Centreville Students, Families, and Community,
It was an amazing and exciting Homecoming Week!
This week, our seniors claimed victory in the PowerPuff game with an exciting overtime “kick-off” finish! We had a fun-filled pep rally on Friday, followed by an amazing parade—complete with more candy than anyone could eat—and capped off the week with a thrilling Wildcats win over Washington-Liberty and a night of dancing at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. A huge thank you to Ms. Cable and our Student Government Association for planning such an incredible week, and to all the staff and parent volunteers who helped make these events possible.
Looking ahead, a reminder that PSAT/SAT Day is Tuesday, October 8. Students in 10th and 11th grade will take the PSAT, and registered 12th grade students will take the SAT. 9th grade students will have an asynchronous learning day at home. All test-takers will follow an early release schedule.
Thank you and Go Wildcats!

October 25 - Food For Neighbors Red Bag Event: Centreville High School is proud to partner with Food For Neighbors (FFN) to help feed our local students who deal with food insecurity because even in a county as wealthy as Fairfax, one in four kids in our area are struggling with hunger. Studies show that when adolescents are fed positive outcomes include increased enrollment in challenging courses, higher graduation rate, improved mental and physical health, a decrease in disruptive behaviors and increased participation in after-school activities".
Food For Neighbors is a local organization addressing this problem by collecting food from our community via their Red Bag Program and donating directly to our local schools. The food is then distributed to the students every week through our food pantry. Please consider donating and/or volunteering to support this important cause.

AP US History Students Present to “Sharks” to Invest in their Colony: Students in Mr. Valenti’s AP U.S. History class brought history to life by pitching their assigned American colonies to a panel of “Sharks,” highlighting what made each colony a great place to invest. With creativity and strong research, students made persuasive cases to win over the Sharks. A big thank you to our guest Sharks, Assistant Principal, Dr. Florio and Social Studies Educational Specialist, Mr. Perrier, for supporting this engaging learning experience. Great job to all of our student historians!

School Bond Referendum on Ballot Tuesday, November 4: The $460 million School Bond Referendum — supporting the division and county’s commitment to providing safe and welcoming learning environments for all students — will be on the Tuesday, November 4, general election ballot. The funding provided by voter-approved bonds is expected to fund projects identified in the FY 2026-30 Capital Improvement Program, which was approved by the School Board in February. A portion of 2025’s $460 million bond referendum is expected to fund renovations at our school. Learn more at fcps.edu/Bond2025.
The building and renovation of our schools is not funded through the division’s operating budget. Voter-approved bonds allow payment for these projects over time. Become Unskippable: Practical Guidance for Talking With Teens: Teens skip things that don't interest them, including lectures from their parents. But fentanyl is a threat to young people across the country and in Fairfax County. So it's important to have short, impactful talks with your teen, whether or not you think they’re at risk.
As a parent or caregiver, you have the power to become “unskippable” and talk with your teen in a way they will listen. See tips for talking with your teen about fentanyl and other difficult subjects. Watch this video to learn more about becoming Unskippable.
K-12 School Start Times Survey: FCPS is continuing to explore options for adjusting school start times, with the primary goal of beginning the middle school day at 8 a.m. or later. In order to minimize any cost for this project, elementary and high school start times would need to shift as well.
Providing feedback opportunities for the community is a critical part of this effort. Since 2024, FCPS’ consultant has hosted five community forums and administered two surveys. A new School Start TImes Survey is open through Tuesday, September 30. It includes two options that are designed to support student well-being, align with research, balance transportation logistics, and minimize costs. Staff, parents and caregivers, students, and community members may provide input on the two options by taking the survey. Find more information about adjusting school start times.
