Kings Park Families,
It’s hard to believe September is already coming to a close. This week we celebrate and honor our military-connected families during Blue Star Welcome Week. We are grateful for the sacrifices and service of these families and are proud to recognize their important role in the Kings Park community. Be on the lookout for information about our Veterans Day celebration in November.
As we transition to October, we are excited to host some exciting family engagement events. First grade families, we hope to see you this Friday for the first of our Morning Meeting, Attendance Matters and AAP Information Sessions. This is a great opportunity to be a part of your child’s classroom community and experience how they start each day together. Please take a moment to review the important details below.

Walk, Bike and Roll to School on October 8th
Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day is October 8th! We encourage participants to plan a safe route in advance. A fun way to celebrate this day is to form a “walking train” with other Kings Park friends! Meet at the bike racks (to the left of main entrance) at 8:20am to celebrate.
Bus transportation will still be available and will follow the same route schedules. Kiss and Ride will still be available.
New Cafeteria Food Items Include Hearty Homestyle Favorites
Our new menu items debuting in September and October feature hearty homestyle favorites — including veggie chili, pictured above — and fresh global inspiration! Other new additions include:
-
Breakfast: Cinnamon apple overnight oats, mini blueberry pancakes, French toast sticks, egg and cheese breakfast quesadillas and tacos, and turkey sausage and cheese bagels.
-
Lunch: Teriyaki chicken stir-fry, teriyaki chickenless bites stir-fry, cheesy turkey pepperoni pasta, cheesy pasta with marinara sauce, deep dish pizza, and cheesy fiesta nachos.
Check our online menu to see when your child can try new recipes developed by FCPS’ executive chef and team of food and nutrition experts, based on student feedback.

✨The 2023-30 Strategic Plan — Goal 4: Equitable Access and Opportunities
FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan sets five main goals to create positive change in the division. These goals show where we should focus our attention and will help us align our efforts.
One of the measures of the fourth goal is to provide all students with consistent availability of and accessibility to electives, extracurricular, co-curricular, and enrichment activities. See how Goal 4 is being put into practice.
Bonds are How the Community can Invest in FCPS Schools
Did you know? When FCPS makes improvements to the buildings and facilities that we use every day for school and community events, the funds for those projects come from bonds – not the operating budget for the division. And bonds are approved by voters!
A $460 million School Bond Referendum will be on the Tuesday, November 4, general election ballot. The referendum reinforces supporting FCPS schools and the county’s commitment to providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students, staff, and members of the community.
This upcoming bond referendum is expected to fund the acquisition for a future high school in the western part of the county; renovations to Cub Run Elementary School, Union Mill Elementary School, and Centre Ridge Elementary School; inflation adjustments for prior bond projects; security vestibules; high-efficiency upgrades; and other major maintenance projects.
Read more about the 2025 Bond Referendum to understand how it helps fund capital projects and reflects an investment in providing students with a world-class education. Do you have a voting plan for this November? Learn more about registering to vote online.
FCPS CARES Program
The FCPS CARES Program is a wonderful way for parents, staff and community members to recognize employees who make a difference. We invite you to submit a story highlighting how a Kings Park staff member has shown care, support and dedication to students, colleagues or our community.
