Dear Fort Belvoir Upper School Community,
Today marks my last day as your principal, a bittersweet moment for me. Serving the students, families, and staff of this school has been an incredible honor and a deeply rewarding experience.
I want to express my deepest gratitude for the time I have spent working with this unique and resilient military community. Your commitment, spirit, and the unparalleled support you give your children and our school have made my time here truly special. I will genuinely miss being a part of the daily life and success of the Fort Belvoir Upper School.
I am excited to share that my next professional journey will be as the principal of Sandburg Middle School. While I look forward to this new opportunity, I will always cherish the memories and relationships forged here at Fort Belvoir.
I am confident that the school will continue to thrive and achieve great things. I wish you all continued success in the coming academic year and beyond.
Starting this Monday, Ms. Kathy Quigley will step into the role of interim principal. Ms. Quigley is a dedicated and experienced educator, and I know she will provide excellent leadership and a steady hand during this transition. Please extend to her the same warm welcome and support you have always given me.
Thank you again for the privilege of serving as your principal.
With warm regards and best wishes,
Jennifer Laxton

Advanced Academics Program (AAP) Information Meeting
Meeting Topic: Introduction to AAP and the Continuum of Services for Fort Belvoir Primary and Upper Families
Date: Wednesday, October 1, 2025
Location: Fort Belvoir Primary Cafeteria
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of advanced learners. FCPS offers a continuum of Advanced Academic Services for students in grades K – 12. This approach recognizes that each child’s learning needs are unique and focuses on matching services rather than labeling students. Through the continuum, students have multiple entry points for deeper learning and opportunities to grow alongside peers with similar academic needs. Ms. Stafford, Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART), will be hosting this meeting for Fort Belvoir Primary and Upper families.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday, October 1st 5:30pm in the Fort Belvoir Primary Cafeteria to learn more. Questions? Contact Ms. Stafford at dlstafford@fcps.edu
