Can you believe we are halfway through the first quarter already? Yesterday, your child should have brought home an interim that included your child’s current progress for Quarter 1. Thank you for taking the time to review the interim and to talk with your child about what is going well in school and what areas they want to grow more in this year.
We are looking forward to the Stallion Carnival that is hosted by the PTA, this Friday, September 26. Pre-sale tickets are available. Additional information is located within the Saratoga Connection.

Stallion Carnival
Saratoga Elementary PTA invites you to our annual school-wide Stallion Carnival on Friday, September 26th! This fun-filled community event brings together students, families, and staff for an afternoon of games, crafts, food, and entertainment—all while raising vital funds to support our school. Enjoy carnival games, balloon animals, face painting, food trucks, and more. Proceeds from this year’s carnival will help fund water bottle refill stations, school beautification projects, and field trip bus support. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

October 13 Lunch and Snack Available
October 13 is a Teacher Workday and both lunch and snack will be served at Saratoga from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in our serving lines. Please note the following important guidelines from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE):
- Meals must be eaten on site.
- Enrichment Activities will be provided for anyone who would like to participate.
- Meals may be provided only to those 18 years old and under.
- Only 1 lunch and 1 snack may be provided per child
Blue Star Welcome Week
Blue Star Welcome Week is an annual, nationwide initiative created by Blue Star Families, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting military families. The week is designed to recognize and welcome the approximately 600,000 military families who move to new communities each year.
The goal is to help these families feel a sense of belonging by fostering connections between military families and their civilian neighbors. As a Purple Star School, we are committed to supporting our military connected families. Blue Star Welcome Week is a key part of our ongoing efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. Blue Star Welcome Week is September 29 - October 3.
 Take the K-12 School Start Times SurveyFCPS is continuing to explore options for adjusting school start times, with the primary goal of starting the middle school day at 8 a.m. or after. In order to minimize any cost for this project, elementary and high school start times would need to shift as well.
Providing feedback opportunities for the community is a critical part of this effort. Since 2024, FCPS’ consultant has hosted five community forums and administered two surveys. That feedback helped in developing two options for adjusting school start times. The options are designed to support student well-being, align with research, and balance transportation logistics.
We invite you to provide input on the two options by taking a short survey. This voluntary survey will close on Tuesday, September 30. Visit the FCPS website for more information on adjusting school start times.
Cars in the Bus Loop
We all share the common goal of a safe arrival and dismissal. There have been an increased number of cars who are entering the bus loop at arrival and dismissal, the bus loop is closed to cars from 8:50 a.m. - 9:20 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. - 4:20 p.m since students are actively using this area. Please do not use the bus loop exit for U-turns, this is a safety hazard. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making our arrival and dismissal times safe and smooth for all our children.
Participate in an Upcoming Community Boundary Review Meeting
As a reminder, FCPS will hold two sets of community boundary review meetings this fall — one in September and another in October. Each set of meetings will focus on two pyramids per meeting.
Each of the September meetings will include an overview of where FCPS is in the comprehensive boundary review process, an update and opportunity for feedback on school start times, how community input is informing the process, and next steps in the boundary review process.
The meeting for our pyramid will be held Tuesday, September 30, at 6:30-8 p.m., at Edison High School (In Person or Virtual). Please register by clicking “in person” or “virtual,” depending on how you would like to participate.
Child care for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed.

Carnaval de Sementales
¡La Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) de la Escuela Primaria Saratoga los invita a nuestro Carnaval Anual de Sementales para toda la escuela el viernes 26 de septiembre! Este divertido evento comunitario reúne a estudiantes, familias y personal para una tarde de juegos, manualidades, comida y entretenimiento, a la vez que recauda fondos vitales para apoyar a nuestra escuela. Disfruten de juegos de carnaval, animales con globos, pintacaritas, food trucks y mucho más. Lo recaudado en el carnaval de este año ayudará a financiar estaciones de recarga de botellas de agua, proyectos de embellecimiento escolar y apoyo para el transporte escolar. Las entradas se pueden comprar en línea o en la puerta.

Almuerzo y refrigerio disponibles el 13 de octubre
El 13 de octubre es un día de trabajo para maestros y se servirán almuerzos y refrigerios en Saratoga de 9:00 a. m. a 1:00 p. m. en nuestras líneas de servicio. Tenga en cuenta las siguientes pautas importantes del Departamento de Educación de Virginia (VDOE):
- Las comidas deben consumirse en el lugar.
- Se ofrecerán actividades de enriquecimiento para todos los que deseen participar.
- Las comidas solo se pueden proporcionar a menores de 18 años.
- Solo se puede proporcionar un almuerzo y un refrigerio por niño.
Semana de Bienvenida Blue Star
La Semana de Bienvenida Blue Star es una iniciativa anual a nivel nacional creada por Blue Star Families, una organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a apoyar a las familias militares. Esta semana está diseñada para reconocer y dar la bienvenida a las aproximadamente 600,000 familias militares que se mudan a nuevas comunidades cada año.
El objetivo es ayudar a estas familias a sentir un sentido de pertenencia fomentando las conexiones entre las familias militares y sus vecinos civiles. Como Escuela Purple Star, nos comprometemos a apoyar a nuestras familias con vínculos militares. La Semana de Bienvenida de Blue Star es fundamental en nuestros esfuerzos continuos por crear un ambiente acogedor e inclusivo para todos. La Semana de Bienvenida de Blue Star se celebra del 29 de septiembre al 3 de octubre.
Vehículos en la zona de autobuses
Compartimos el objetivo común de una llegada y salida seguras. Se ha observado un aumento en el número de vehículos que entran en la zona de autobuses durante la llegada y la salida. Esta zona está cerrada al tráfico de 8:50 a. m. a 9:20 a. m. y de 3:45 p. m. a 4:20 p. m., ya que los estudiantes la utilizan activamente. Por favor, no utilice la salida de la zona de autobuses para dar vuelta en U, ya que esto representa un riesgo para la seguridad. Gracias por su comprensión y cooperación para que la llegada y la salida sean seguras y sin contratiempos para todos nuestros niños.
Participe en la próxima reunión de revisión de límites comunitarios
Les recordamos que FCPS llevará a cabo dos reuniones de revisión de límites comunitarios este otoño: una en septiembre y otra en octubre. Cada reunión se centrará en dos pirámides.
Cada reunión de septiembre incluirá un resumen del estado de FCPS en el proceso integral de revisión de límites, una actualización y la oportunidad de recibir comentarios sobre los horarios de inicio de clases, cómo las aportaciones de la comunidad influyen en el proceso y los próximos pasos en el proceso.
La reunión de nuestra pirámide se llevará a cabo el martes 30 de septiembre de 6:30 a 8:00 p. m. en la Escuela Secundaria Edison (presencial o virtual). Regístrese haciendo clic en "presencial" o "virtual", según cómo desee participar.
Se ofrecerá cuidado infantil para los participantes presenciales e interpretación/traducción según sea necesario.
