Fun Run

Message from Mrs. Briggs

Wow! What a way to end the week! Our students did an amazing job running in our fun run to celebrate our 60th anniversary. A huge thank you to our PTO and parents for helping spread the word to raise funds for our school. We had over $70,000 in donations!

Every fall, Spring Hill Elementary, proudly joins communities across the country in Blue Star Welcome Week, a time to honor and support students and families connected to the military. This year blue star week from September 27th to October 5th, is about more than recognition—it’s about building belonging. We aim to welcome military-connected students into our school family, help them feel supported, and encourage connections between our military and civilian families. In honor of our military kids please have your child wear blue on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Amy Briggs

Spring Hill is in the News!

Media

Ms. Szynkowski's class is in the news! WJLA (Channel 7) came into our very own Ms. Szynkowski's class to find out how the first weeks of kindergarten are going from the perspective of the student.Click here to watch! So exciting that there is  spotlight on our teachers and classrooms!

Safety Corner

FCPS has been working closely with us to ensure the grounds are safe for all students. Today, three trees were removed so that the back pathway is now visible from all angles. In addition, we are removing the garden beds so that there is more visibility as well.

Walker Reminders

If your student is in grades 2-6 and a walker at dismissal, please remind them to remain at Door 6 if they do not see their pickup person. This is also said to them at dismissal. In addition, all 6th grade walkers should exit Door 6 and not Door 8. There are staff members on duty at Door 6 that students should wait with until their pickup person arrives. This helps with accountability in knowing who is still waiting to be picked up. They should not wait for their pickup person on the playground or blacktop. Any student not picked up by 3:50pm will be taken to the front office and a call will be made home.

K-12 School Start Times Survey

FCPS is continuing to explore options for adjusting school start times, with the primary goal of beginning the middle school day at 8 a.m. or later. In order to minimize any cost for this project, elementary and high school start times would need to shift as well.

Providing feedback opportunities for the community is a critical part of this effort. Since 2024, FCPS’ consultant has hosted five community forums and administered two surveys. A new School Start TImes Survey is open through Tuesday, September 30. It includes two options that are designed to support student well-being, align with research, balance transportation logistics, and minimize costs. Staff, parents and caregivers, students, and community members may provide input on the two options by taking the survey. Find more information about adjusting school start times.

What Will the 2025 Bond Referendum on the November Ballot Fund?

The $460M bond referendum on the November ballot is expected to fund the next stages of several ongoing projects, as well as others referenced in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP)

The building and renovation of our schools is not funded through the division’s operating budget. Voter-approved bonds allow payment for these projects over time. Read more about the 2025 Bond Referendum. Learn more about registering to vote. Make a plan to vote by Tuesday, November 4.
