We Are a Phone-Free School!
Thank you for helping to support the FCPS cell phone policy by waiting to call or text your child about non-urgent matters until the school day is over. In case of an emergency, it is always best to contact our school’s front office (703-207-4000) to reach your child during class time.
Visit the FCPS Cell Phone Policy webpage to read more about usage policies by grade level and to share your feedback on the current cell phone policy.
Attendance Matters!
Please remember that October 2, 2025, will be a school holiday. We look forward to welcoming your children back to school on October 3, 2025.
Also, we understand that family vacations and trips provide valuable time together. However, a pre-arranged form must be completed three to five days before the trip. Absences due to vacations will be marked as "VAC" and considered unexcused. Please note that when students are absent for vacations, teachers will not assign lessons or classwork in advance. Much of the learning that occurs in the classroom depends on direct instruction, group interaction, discussions, and hands-on activities that cannot be replicated outside of school.
Upon returning, students are expected to stay after school to complete any missed assignments and catch up on classwork.
Thank you for supporting your child's attendance and learning! Your encouragement is vital to their success!
Early College Scholars
The Early College Scholars program allows eligible public high school students to earn a minimum of 15 transferable college credits while fulfilling the requirements for an Advanced Studies Diploma. For the first time this form is now available in the Parent Digital Consent portal which you can access with the same username and password as ParentVue. Please take a moment to login and opt in for this program.
To qualify for this program, you'll need to meet these criteria:
- Maintain a "B" average or better in your high school courses; and
- Be pursuing an Advanced Studies Diploma; and
- Successfully complete college-level coursework, such as AP, International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, or dual enrollment, to earn at least 15 transferable* college credits. * the actual number of transferable college credits awarded depends on the criteria of the admitting college or university.
To formalize your participation, you'll sign an Governor's Early College Scholars Agreement, which will also be signed by your parents or guardians, principal, and school counselor.
Parents can complete the form in the Parent Digital Consent portal or a hard copy of the form can be returned to your student's school counselor in Student Services. Questions can be directed to Jessica Grenfell, Director of Student Services.
2025 Student Rights and Responsibilities
FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities document (SR&R) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Parents/caregivers should talk to their child(ren) about expectations for this school year. Also, please log in to SIS ParentVUE and sign to acknowledge your review of the SR&R, or sign and return the signature sheet to your child’s school by Tuesday, September 30.
SAT School Day and PSAT/NMSQT Testing Day

The digital SAT School Day exam is offered to 12th grade students, and the digital PSAT/NMSQT exam is provided to 10th and 11th grade students.
Unscheduled Day for Ninth Grade Students Because of the testing, most ninth grade students will not have school on October 8. Students are encouraged to complete any missing work or assignments that need to be completed prior to the end of the first quarter.
Ninth grade students with disabilities who receive low incidence special education services will still receive in-person instruction with a two-hour early release on October 8.
Contact the Student Services team at your child’s school with any questions. Learn more about SAT and PSAT assessments in FCPS.

The $460M bond referendum on the November ballot is expected to fund the next stages of several ongoing projects, as well as others referenced in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
The building and renovation of our schools is not funded through the division’s operating budget. Voter-approved bonds allow payment for these projects over time. Read more about the 2025 Bond Referendum. Learn more about registering to vote. Make a plan to vote by Tuesday, November 4.
