Safety Corner
Great News! We are scheduled to receive over 30 external permanent cameras that will be installed this school year. Although this process may not happen immediatly, we are on track for the installation of these cameras by the end of the school year.
We are also having a front vestibule installed next summer. This vestibule will only allow visitors to enter into the front office adding an addtional safety layer so when visitors walk into our building, they are not immediately in our front lobby.
Spring Hill is in the News!

Discovering Character in Language Arts
Benchmark Unit 2 in Language Arts is about characters who are faced with difficult choices. Sixth grade students will learn about characters who are changed and inspired by others.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: Have you ever disagreed with a friend? How did you see things differently?
- Activity: Have your child write a diary entry from the perspective of a book character.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.
Read FCPS This Week to learn more about these topics. If you are not already receiving this weekly newsletter, please sign up today.

Cell Phones Off, Learning On
Thank you for helping to support the FCPS cell phone policy by waiting to call or text your child about non-urgent matters until the school day is over. In case of an emergency, it is always best to contact our school’s front office to reach your child during class time.
Visit the FCPS Cell Phone Policy webpage to read more about usage policies by grade level and to share your feedback on the current cell phone policy.
Important Volunteer Information
Effective immediately, if you are considering volunteering more than twice this year or chaperoning a field trip (even once), you will need to sign up to be a volunteer. All volunteers (new or returning) will register in Volunteer FCPS, complete a volunteer orientation, and be required to sign in as usual using the visitor kiosk. Some volunteers will also be required to undergo a background check. Visit the Volunteer FCPS website for details.
