The Wildcat Weekly - September 21, 2025

Centreville Students, Families, and Community,

We’re already one month into the new school year, and it’s been exciting to see our students settling into their classes, engaging with their learning, and building positive daily routines. As we move further into the semester, students are taking on more academic challenges, and we’re proud of their focus and determination so far.

With routines now established, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of consistent, on-time attendance. Being in class every day is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success. As a school community, we all share the responsibility of supporting our students and it starts with showing up in class, on time, every day. Let’s continue working together to keep our students on track and thriving.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to celebrate one of our favorite school traditions, Homecoming Week, taking place next week! Our Student Government Association (SGA) has planned a fun-filled week featuring spirit days, a school-wide pep rally, a community parade, a tailgate party, and the much-anticipated Homecoming Dance. It’s a great opportunity for students, staff, and families to come together and show their Wildcat pride.

Thank you and Go Wildcats!

Dr. Erik Healey, Principal

Wonderful Wildcats

APCompGov

AP Comp Gov Students Simulate Congressional Bill Making: Students in Mr. Dizon’s AP Comparative Government class participated in a high-level simulation of the legislative process by splitting into the two houses of Congress to draft and pass bills. With a creative twist, each student represented either a human or a zombie, crafting legislation to meet the needs of their fictional constituents. This engaging activity required students to think critically about representation, negotiation, and compromise, while applying their understanding of government structures. The simulation not only brought political theory to life but also challenged students to engage in complex, real-world problem solving.

Eng9

English 9 Students Use Images for Inspiration: They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and students in Ms. Hwangpo’s English 9 class put that idea into practice through a high-level writing assignment. As part of their short story unit, students analyzed images and short videos to spark ideas and develop original narratives. This activity challenged them to think deeply about theme, character, and setting while translating visual cues into written storytelling. By connecting visual media with literary creation, students honed both their analytical and creative thinking skills.

Golf

CVHS Golf Takes 4th at Districts: Congratulations to Timothy Yi for an outstanding performance at the Golf District Tournament, finishing as the overall individual champion with a combined score of 140 over two days—shooting an impressive 69 on Day 1 and 71 on Day 2. Timothy will advance to the State Regionals, joined by teammate Prawe Diewtraguichai, who shot rounds of 86 and 84 to also qualify as a singles competitor. The team finished strong overall, securing 4th place in the tournament. Best of luck to Timothy and Prawe as they compete at Regionals on September 30th and October 1st!
