 Atoms Athletics Recap
Golf held their senior night festivities Monday evening at Pinecrest and celebrated the class of 2026. The Atoms were on a heater over the last several matches but were cooled by perennial district power TJ. The Atoms left some strokes out there but played well. The Atoms tee it up again Wednesday vs Edison at Fort Belvoir.
Girls Volleyball took on two district foes his week and came away with two impressive wins! Starting Monday at Justice, the Atoms just dominated the Wolves throughout take the match in three straight sets! They followed it up with a home game vs Falls Church Wednesday evening and the result was no different as the Atoms pummeled the Jaguars in three sets to move to three and one in district play. They look to stay hot as varsity plays host to Fairfax Home School Monday and all three levels welcome Hayfield on Tuesday.
Boys Volleyball played host to Justice Monday evening and play hard throughout taking the Wolves to four sets before falling in district play. Next up was a trip to Justice but this time to play Falls Church. The Atoms continue to show some growing pains as they fell to the Jaguars. It was a quick turnaround with a trip to Meridian Thursday evening and was a different story from the previous two games. The Atoms were on their game all night taking the match in four sets from the Mustangs. Next up is a home game vs Fairfax Home School Monday evening.
Field Hockey continues to be a hot streak as they went 3-0 this week. First up the Atoms traveled to McLean and handled the Highlanders coming home with a 2-0 win. They followed it up with another trip but this time to West Springfield. The Atoms were again dominant throughout defeating the Spartans 2-0. Friday evening the Atoms hosted TJ for their first district game of the season and the theme of the week didn't change, as the Atoms were in complete control throughout winning in mercy 6-0 after three quarters. The Atoms will travel to Herndon Monday evening.
Football got on the bus for week 3 and traveled to Falls Church City to take on the Meridian Mustangs. The Atoms came into the game with several key players suffering from injuries but were ready to go. However, the Mustangs were locked in from the opening kick as they used their running attack to control the ball and took advantages of some Atoms turnovers to run away for the win. The Atoms return home Friday evening where they will play for the "Beltway Bowl" vs Falls Church
Boys and Girls Cross Country traveled to Mason District for their meet and saw some impressive runs throughout the team with many runners achieving personal best times. The Atoms continue to grow and get better with each meet as they prepare for the National District Meet in October. The Atoms are on the road to Woodgrove today for the Wolverines Invitational.

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help
Attention Parents! Volunteers are needed to sell concessions at games throughout the year, starting with fall sports Football and Volleyball. We welcome any and all parents to volunteer but when parents of a particular sport work a game, a portion of concessions sales directly benefit that team. If you are not able to help directly at home games, there are many ways you can get involved with the Atoms Athletics Boosters by attending our monthly meetings or being a team liaison. Thank you for your support for Atom’s Athletics!
For questions about concession stand sign ups, contact Lissette Puna.
