Terra Centre Newsletter 9/15/25

TAmy Tang from Burke Apple Federal Credit Union, brought a generous donation of school supplies for Terra Centre students! Thank you to the staff and members of the Burke AFCU for supporting Terra Centre!

Terra Centre Families,

Thank you to our families who were able to join us for Back-to-School Night last week! If you were unable to attend, classroom teachers have loaded their presentations on their Schoology Courses for you to reference. Additionally, supplemental information is available in the Terra Centre All Parents/Guardians Schoology course.

Our first 3-hour early release (12:25 dismissal) is this Wednesday, September 17. To ensure student safety, we need every K-6 family to respond. If you have not done so already, please complete the survey ASAP to confirm your plans.

Please scroll down to review important information and reminders.

Our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Hannah Roukas, will be hosting an Overview of the Advanced Academic Program of services in Fairfax County again. This session will cover the services offered from Kindergarten through 12th grade. We encourage you to join us and bring your questions. We’ll meet on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 in the cafeteria at 5pm. The PTA meeting will follow.

Save the Date - Field Day!

Terra Centre's Field Day is on Wednesday, October 1st! Field Day is a day filled with collaborative activities that promote building a strong, positive school community.  Students will participate with their homeroom class.  If you would like to volunteer, please access the Sign-Up Genius. Field Day volunteers are considered Level 1 and will just need to sign in the visitor management system in the main office.

  • Level 1: Infrequent volunteers (monthly or less frequent) who are always supervised do not need a criminal background check. However, they do need a sex offender registry check, which is performed by signing in at the school's visitor kiosk.
  • For more information on other volunteering opportunities, visit the Volunteering at Terra Centre page on the Terra Centre website.

Color Days

September is Attendance Awareness Month

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!

Attendance is an important life skill that will help your child later in life. It’s a good habit to build now to help them graduate from college on time and routinely report to work on time once they have a career.

Take a look at the FCPS Calendar. Try to ensure that any trips or family events are on weekends and school holidays. Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students who are absent 10% of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered “chronically absent.”

When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or appointment, you must report the absence to the school. Most schools have links to their attendance email or notification systems on their homepages. If you are unsure of how to contact them, call the front office.

Visit our Attendance webpage for resources on attendance.
