The World Language Credit by Exam (WLCBE) assesses language proficiency in languages other than English and recognizes the strengths that our students bring as effective communicators in multiple languages.
This assessment may be used to award world language credits towards graduation, determine course placement for language courses offered in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), and fulfill the world languages requirements for the Virginia Seal of Biliteracy.
The WLCBE exam is offered in the fall each school year. A student may participate in the exam a total of a total of two times per language, with no more than one attempt each year. In other words, students have two chances per language to earn credits by taking the exam between grades 7 and 12. Exam results from the fall assessment window will be available in February. These results are intended for World Language placement and course selection for the 2026-2027 school year only and cannot be used for schedule changes during the current academic year.
The fall registration deadline for the WLCBE is October 17, 2025. To have your child participate, please fill out the Registration Form and have them submit to their counselor by the deadline.
Is your student interested in taking an AP exam, but not enrolled in the course?
Students interested in self-studying for an AP exam must complete this google form to indicate which exam(s) they would like to register for as a Non-Enrolled student. The non-refundable exam fee this year is $99 and should be paid in MySchoolBucks (AP Test Fee Home Schooled/Non-Enrolled). It will open on Monday for payments.
- Students must use their @fcpsschools.net account to complete the form.
As you and your student consider self-studying for exams, please check the AP Exam schedule to ensure that your student does not over-schedule or double book yourself. Exams will only be moved to the late testing schedule for extreme circumstances.
Students who wish to self-study an exam we do not offer at TJ will require a meeting with Ms. Fawsett before it is approved. The approval of self-study exams we do not offer here at TJ will be dependent on finding a placement at another school if we are not able to host the exam here. Requests for these exams will not be taken after Friday, October 17.
The deadline to complete the form and pay your fees is Friday, October 17.
Fairfax County Public Schools requires all of its schools to conduct a bus evacuation drill within the first four weeks of school. It consists of students practicing safely exiting the bus either through the front, or the emergency back door in the case of an emergency.
We will be conducting this drill on Tuesday, September 16 at arrival time. There might be some slight delays with students getting to their first period class.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of us safe!
