Vote Tomorrow, Friday Night Lights, Providence Day, and More!
Dear Neighbors,
Before we dive in with this week’s updates, don’t forget to vote in tomorrow’s Special Election to fill our local seat in Congress!
This fall, I hope you’ll join me under the Friday night lights as we celebrate our local football teams, marching bands, cheerleaders, and color guards during our “A Night at the Game” events. These evenings are about more than sports — they’re a celebration of student spirit and the pride we share in our schools. I hope to see you there!
I’m equally excited to co-host this year’s annual Providence Day & Back to School Celebration with Supervisor Dalia Palchik. It’s always a highlight of the season, bringing together families and neighbors for music, activities, and fellowship. Events like this showcase the heart of our district and the strong connections that make the Providence District so special.
We are also investing in the future by opening applications for the School Board’s Student Leadership Development Program. This initiative provides students with firsthand experience in governance and policymaking, empowering the next generation of leaders to find their voice and make a meaningful difference in our school system.
I encourage you to read the updates about various topics included below. If I can ever be of help to you or your family, don’t hesitate to reach out.
In service,
Karl Frisch Providence District Representative Fairfax County School Board

Celebrating Timber Lane Elementary’s 70th Anniversary

I was grateful to join the Timber Lane Elementary School community in celebrating its 70th anniversary this weekend. The celebration brought together past and current students, staff, families, and neighbors for an afternoon filled with classic games, live music from former Timber Lane staff, creative crafts, and even a spirit contest. Community members were also invited to leave their mark on history by contributing to the school’s time capsule, ensuring that today’s memories will be shared with future Timber Lane Tigers. With food trucks, laughter, and plenty of school pride, it was a wonderful reminder of Timber Lane’s lasting impact and the strong bonds that make it such a special place in our community.
