Roadrunner Giving Campaign
The Roadrunner Giving Campaign is our annual no-fuss direct donation fundraiser! 100% of RGC donations are reinvested into our school to benefit students and staff! ANY amount helps our school (and donations are fully tax-deductible)!
We have two wonderful raffle opportunities for families that donate! If you donate $250 or more by 10/31/25 you will be entered into the Assistant Principal for the Day raffle and if you donate $400 or more by 10/31/25 you will be entered into the Principal for the Day raffle!

Chick-fil-A Spirit Event - TODAY!
Today is our first spirit event of the 2025-2026 school year! We are partnering with the North Point Village Chick-fil-A (1494 North Point Village Center, Reston VA 20194)! You can order by placing a mobile pickup, dine-in, drive-thru, or curbside order from 6am - 10pm!
You can to enjoy a great meal or snack and the PTA will receive 25% of all sales when you use the code 'ROADRUNNER' while using the Chick-fil-A app. If you are dining in or ordering through the drive-thru, mention you are ordering for the Great Falls PTA spirit event for the PTA to receive 25% of sales!
Unfortunately, the Chick-fil-A app does not allow you to input the code for delivery!

After School Programs - Registration is Open!
GFES PTA partners with Baroody Camps academics to provide three sessions of a wide variety of quality, safe after-school activities for students of all ages. Classes take place at GFES for an hour directly after school.

Registration for the Fall Session will remain open through Sunday, September 21st.
Currently we have low enrollment for Pickleball (1st-4th), Sports & PE games (K-3), Imagination Passport (1st-4th), Hungry Hungry Science (1st-6th), and Minecraft: Survival Skills (3rd-6th). If we don't meet minimum enrollment numbers, we will have to cancel these activities. Please register today!

Calling All Great Falls ES Volunteers!
Volunteer FCPS ensures a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all FCPS schools. All volunteers must be registered in Volunteer FCPS, which includes individuals who volunteer to chaperone on field trips, work at book fairs, and assist regularly in classrooms, libraries, or cafeterias. Volunteers who work unsupervised with students will also be required to undergo a background check.
As a reminder, all volunteers and visitors to GFES are required to sign in by scanning their ID at our visitor kiosk. Visit the Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more.
Family Movie Night is Friday September 19th
Please join us for our Family Movie Night under the stars, on Friday September 19th at 7:30pm featuring the movie A Minecraft Movie!
Doors open at 7pm!

Girls on the Run Registration is Open!
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a fun, evidence-based running program for girls in grades 3rd through 6th, which inspires girls to build their confidence, kindness, and decision making skills. Dynamic lessons instill valuable life skills including the important connection between physical and emotional health. The GOTR season begins on September 25th and goes through November 22nd. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the GFES track from 7:30AM to 8:30 AM.

Book Fair - Register to Volunteer!
Our fall Scholastic book fair will run from October 6-10th, with the Family Shopping Night on Thursday, October 9th! Parent volunteers are needed to help students browse! Please sign up here if you can help.
If you are interested in helping as a book fair volunteer, mark sure you register in Volunteer FCPS now, as it can take several weeks for a registration to be processed. All book fair volunteers must be registered as Level 1 volunteers, though you may wish to select a higher level to participate in other opportunities throughout the school year. Look for more details about the book fair in upcoming newsletters and Tuesday packets.
2025-2026 Reflections Contest
Calling student artists of all kinds! The Reflections contest is now accepting submissions for the 2025-2026 competition in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. This year’s theme is “I Belong!” and all GFES students are invited to create an original piece to submit through this 50+ year-old program that promotes creativity and artistic literacy.

Cultural and Diversity Committee
This school year, the GFES PTA introduced a new Cultural and Diversity Committee to celebrate and raise awareness of all of the different backgrounds represented in our school. The committee's goal is to foster a more inclusive and equitable environment by promoting understanding and appreciation of diverse backgrounds and perspectives to ensure that all individuals feel valued and respected.

Math Olympiad Coach Needed
The PTA is looking for passionate Math Olympiad coaches to lead and mentor a team of motivated students! The Math Olympiad program is dedicated to developing advanced problem-solving skills and fostering a love for mathematics through participation in national competitions!
