 Thank you for an awesome 3rd week of school and well-attended Back to School Night! We are thrilled with the engagement of our students and families. Please remember to mark your calendars for the special election holiday on Tuesday (no school) and 3-hour early release on Wednesday.
All children and staff now have a polo - thank you PTA! Lemon Road students and staff wear polos at least one Friday per month, for special events, and on field trips. The first polo day is Friday, September 12. If your child does not have a polo, please email our PTA!

At Lemon Road Elementary School, our volunteers are a vital part of our school community. We deeply value the time and care they give to our students.
Recent updates to our volunteer process focus on one primary goal: keeping students safe.
These updates — such as checks against the sex offender registry and, in some cases, criminal background checks — are safety measures that will help us maintain a secure and supportive learning environment for every student in our care.
We encourage all our parents and community members interested in supporting our students by volunteering at school to visit Volunteer FCPS, click “Learn More,” and then “Sign Up.” After you create a profile, you will view an orientation video and complete a volunteer application.
Volunteer FCPS ensures a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. All volunteers must be registered in Volunteer FCPS. This includes individuals who volunteer to chaperone on field trips, work at book fairs, and help out regularly in classrooms, libraries, or cafeterias. Volunteers who work unsupervised with students will also be required to undergo a background check.
As a reminder, all volunteers — and visitors to a school — are required to sign in by scanning their ID at our visitor kiosk. Visit the Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more.

 Join the Marshall Pyramid Schools at Marshall Mayhem! This annual fair is held at Marshall High School on Friday, September 12 from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. Family friendly activities include food trucks, face painting, and games!

Membership: Joining the PTA shows that you value your child's educational journey. PTA membership is $30 for family, $17 for individual, and $10 for alumni and grandparents.
Room Parents: At Lemon Road, each classroom has room parents to help with class parties, Freaky Fridays, and volunteer opportunities in the class. If you are interested in being a room parent, reach out to your child's teacher ASAP and join the room parent orientation on September 16.
Armchair Fundraiser: WOW! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far to help support the "Rainbow of Needs" at Lemon Road this school year! We have one week remaining, so donate today!
Spirit Wear: Last call to order fall LRES spirit wear. All items will be delivered to your child's classroom, so shipping is FREE.
Odyssey of the Mind: Does your child like to be creative and problem solve? Odyssey of the Mind is an excellent opportunity for your child to develop critical thinking skills, teamwork, and creativity, and is open to students in K-6. The interest meeting will be on Thursday, September 11 at 7:00 in the cafeteria.
If you are looking for a small way to make a big difference for the teachers and staff at Lemon Road, here are 2 ways parents can!
1. Next time you are shopping, pick up packaged snacks (sweet, salty, or healthy) or individual drinks that will be put in the staff lounge an upcoming Friday or for a staff meeting. Here is a list of specific staff favorites!
2. Consider referring a Lemon Road staff member for a FCPS Cares recognition. They could even win $500 from Educate Fairfax if they are selected as a FCPS Cares of the quarter!
