Big Hearts, Busy Feet & Fit Minds at Union Mill!
It’s been an exciting time in PE! Our amazing 4th, 5th, and 6th graders jumped into learning hands-only CPR — and wow, did they rise to the challenge! With focus and enthusiasm, they practiced lifesaving moves that could one day make a real difference. Go, lifesavers-in-training!
Our 3rd graders have been diving into the 5 components of fitness — strength, endurance, flexibility, body composition, and cardiorespiratory health. They’re learning what it means to be healthy from head to toe and putting it into action through fun fitness activities!
Meanwhile, our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders have been moving and grooving with locomotor skills like skipping, hopping, jumping, and galloping. Whether it’s across the gym or around a hula hoop, these little movers are full of energy and smiles!
Keep it up, Bears — your hearts are strong, your minds are sharp, and your feet are flying! 🐾❤️💪

NEW: Volunteering at Union Mill
FCPS is rolling out a new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, for parents/caregivers, community members, and even students to register and search volunteer opportunities throughout FCPS.
All volunteers (new or returning) are required to register with Volunteer FCPS, complete a volunteer orientation, and are required to sign in with their government issued ID at the VMS in the main office each time they come to volunteer. Some volunteers will also be required to undergo a background check.
If you plan to volunteer at Union Mill this year (i.e. Math & Science Night, chaperone field trips, stuff Friday folders, shelve books in the library, etc.) please start the registration process NOW. Visit the Volunteer FCPS website for details and to get started. The sooner you register, the sooner you'll be eligible to volunteer.
