At Wolftrap, our volunteers are a vital part of our school community. We deeply value the time and care they give to our students. Recent updates to our volunteer process focus on one primary goal: keeping students safe. These updates — such as checks against the sex offender registry and, in some cases, criminal background checks — are safety measures that will help us maintain a secure and supportive learning environment for every student in our care.
All parents and community members interested in supporting our students by volunteering at Wolftrap need to visit Volunteer FCPS, click “Learn More,” and then “Sign Up.” After you create a profile, you will view an orientation video and complete a volunteer application. *If you intend to volunteer for a field trip or volunteer to be a WATCH dog, you will need to register for level 3. This requires a background check and may take more time. Please start the process right away!
Volunteer FCPS ensures a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. All volunteers must be registered in Volunteer FCPS. This includes individuals who volunteer to chaperone on field trips, work at book fairs, and help out regularly in classrooms, libraries, or cafeterias. Volunteers who work unsupervised with students will also be required to undergo a background check.
Join the Walking Wednesday crew each week (weather dependent). Kids sign their names and grab a charm. How many charms can they collect?!?! The grade with the most signatures each month wins the coveted golden shoe. Adults, be sure to join in for coffee sponsored by Caffe Amouri and mingle with other parents!
Teachers are busy, between teaching our students, attending meetings, etc. They could use your help with tasks to support the classroom. This might include laminating pages, putting packets together, and more.
Generally 1-3 hours a week is necessary to help out in this volunteer position. If you are interested in showing your support for the Wolftrap teachers, please contact Jessica Black. Be sure to look out for a Signup Genius in the next couple of weeks, right here in the Connection!

As a reminder, please sign up for the PTA for the 2025-26 school year! PTA memberships are annual, so you must renew your PTA membership each year-- even if you have signed up previously!
PTA membership comes with many benefits, including voting rights at PTA meetings and access to the online school directory. The $30 membership fee covers state and national dues, impactful teacher support, and education and community opportunities for our school! The PTA board looks forward to you joining this year!

Come "Get the Scoop!" with the new 2025-26 PTA Board. Join the Board and Dr. Grove on Wednesday evening, September 10th, in the newly furnished library to find out what we are working on this year. You will have the opportunity to have your voice heard, and share your recommendations to the Board about what projects are next!
Join members of the Wolftrap staff and the PTA Board at a morning coffee for new parents! This will take place in the cafeteria on September 10th from 8:30-9:15 a.m.

The Pizza Bingo committee would like to recognize the Title Sponsor, Dulles Kitchen and Bath. Registration for the fall Girls on the Run (GOTR) 2025 season will be open through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 15th.
All registrants will be entered into the "lottery" to allow everyone a fair and equal chance of experiencing the program. Payment or a payment plan set-up is due at the time of registration. If your participant is not granted a space on a team, you will receive a full refund. *Note: Wolftrap Elementary has not turned anyone away to date!
The GOTR program is designed for elementary school students starting in 3rd grade. Practices will be held on Mondays and Thursdays immediately after school until 4:50 p.m.
