In FCPS each school is asked to submit the name of a parent who is willing to serve on a Challenged Materials Review Committee should the need ever arise at the school level. Back to School Night is a special night for families to learn more about the FCPS Curriculum, your teachers, and your child’s experience at GBW. Families are strongly encouraged to attend this event, and we look forward to hosting families at this event.
Back to School Night (Wednesday, September 10th 6:00 - 8:15 p.m.)
- 6:00- 6:20 pm Principal Opening in Gym (School Doors 1 & 8 will open at 5:45 p.m.)
- 6:20 – 6:35 pm PTA Welcome
- 6:45 – 7:10 Parent Session 1 in classrooms
- 7:15 – 7:40 Parent Session 2 in classrooms (repeat presentation for families with multiple children)
- 7:45 – 8:15 Parent Presentation about Special Education Services at GBW (Gym)
- ***Please note this event is mostly geared towards a parent / guardian presentation and we will not be providing childcare.
- ***Parking Reminders: We are anticipating a full parking lot so please plan to build in extra time to find legal parking / walking. Parking Restrictions for GBW neighborhood found here.
Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools
A new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, will allow students, parents/caregivers, and community members to register and search volunteer opportunities within the school division.
All volunteers (new or returning) will register in Volunteer FCPS, complete a volunteer orientation, and be required to sign in using the visitor kiosk. Some volunteers will also be required to undergo a background check. Visit the Volunteer FCPS website for detail

Mark you Calendars! On Sunday, September 21st, 2025, Greenbriar West ES will be participating in the 17th Annual Asha-Jyothi Fun Run at Fairfax Corner. This exciting event is a fantastic way to support a great cause while also benefiting our Greenbriar West School Community.
All Proceeds from this Fun Run will help to provide a variety of instructional needs including Field Trip Scholarships during the school year.
GBWES gets 100% of the funds if:
