A warm hello to our school community!

Our goal as Family Liaisons is to be a supportive link between your home and our school, ensuring you have the resources, information, and support you need for a successful school year. This newsletter is designed to keep you updated on important events, share helpful resources, and celebrate the incredible spirit of our community.

FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth. The Family Resource Center offers free webinars, confidential consultations, a lending library, tutoring services, and resources to help adults support the success of all students, including those with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities.

The new FCPS Family Academy is a targeted outreach effort to empower and build capacity, connections, cognition, confidence, and awareness through interactive learning experiences, tools, and resources for families in FCPS through a one-stop approach.

Does your child need a tutor?

The FCPS Family Resource Center (FRC) Tutor List contains the names of current FCPS employees who hold a valid and current teaching license in Virginia and want to tutor after their contracted school day.

The 2025-2026 School Year Tutor list is updated monthly. Please fill out this form to obtain the most current list of available tutors.

Fairfax County Public Schools is partnering with Varsity Tutors to provide students and families with extra resources for learning. Every student can take advantage of Varsity Tutors' services, at no cost, including weekly live online classes, on demand 24/7 chat tutoring, essay editing, study resources such as recorded content, practice problems, and diagnostic tests.

This webinar covers strategies to instill confidence at the start of the school year, how to increase your child's likelihood of good grades in the first quarter and beyond, how to effectively prepare for a new routine and establish a motivated, positive outlook as a family. Worried Parents, Anxious Kids: How to Help Your Student Manage School-Related Anxiety

Anxiety rates in children are at an all-time high, and it's getting in the way of schoolwork. When kids feel anxious, their happiness, well-being, and ability to learn can all suffer. With the right tools, parents can help their kids thrive - academically and emotionally.  In this webinar, Educational Connections Founder and President Ann Dolin, M.Ed. And Executive Function Coaching Rachael Moss, MA, M.Ed. will share insights on:

  • The specific academic challenges anxious students face - like overwhelm, concentration, procrastination, and perfectionism
  • The connection between anxiety and executive function skills (and why it matters)

S.H.A.R.E. stands for Speak, Hear, Analyze, Read, and Evolve. This is a place where students speak up, hear others, analyze stories, read texts, and evolve into critical thinkers. This program centers around the five factors of the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate.  For Ages 3-12. Register Here.
