Attendance Awareness Month

The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success. Visit FCPS’ Attendance web page for tips and strategies

Election Page Interest

Are you at least 16? Need Service Hours? Love civic engagement?

Election Day High School Student Program

The Fairfax County Office of Elections is proud to continue to offer students the opportunity to observe the electoral process in an “up close and personal” way by serving as an Election Page.

AS AN ELECTION PAGE, YOU WILL...

  • Complete the required online training class and pass the quiz.
  • Serve an 8-hour shift inside a Fairfax County polling place under the direct supervision of the Chief Election Officer.
  • Arrive on time and remain at the polling place during your assigned shift. ● Maintain impartiality while serving--not discussing politics, candidates, or issues.

ELIGIBILITY

The Election Day High School Student program is open to students who are at least 16 years of age, enrolled in a high school social studies class, and reside in Virginia.

  • If your application is received by Friday, September 13, you will receive priority in the assignment process. The deadline to submit an application is Saturday, September 27.
  • Online training is online and must be completed successfully before Sunday, October 6, in order to receive an election assignment.

MORE INFORMATION

  • Information about the page program is available on

FCPS Volunteer Requirements

Recent updates to our volunteer process focus on one primary goal: keeping students safe.

These updates — such as checks against the sex offender registry and, in some cases, criminal background checks — are safety measures that will help us maintain a secure and supportive learning environment for every student in our care.

We encourage all our parents and community members interested in supporting our students by volunteering at school to visit Volunteer FCPS, click “Learn More,” and then “Sign Up.” After you create a profile, you will view an orientation video and complete a volunteer application.

Volunteer FCPS ensures a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. All volunteers must be registered in Volunteer FCPS. This includes individuals who volunteer to chaperone on field trips, work at book fairs, and help out regularly in classrooms, libraries, or cafeterias. Volunteers who work unsupervised with students will also be required to undergo a background check.

We understand these changes may seem disruptive, especially for long-time volunteers. Our intent is to ensure that our students feel safe and supported with each and every person they encounter at school.

As a reminder, all volunteers — and visitors to a school — are required to sign in by scanning their ID at our visitor kiosk. Visit the Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more.

Meditation and Silent Reflection Spaces

FCPS has developed Regulation 1502 to ensure all students and staff have reasonable accommodation and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school division. The regulation provides guidance for schools on how to manage requests for silent reflection during instructional and non-instructional time, and for students to leave school for religious activities.

These spaces are for individuals to engage in prayer, meditation, or silent reflection, inclusive of their religious or non-religious beliefs. Parents/caregivers must provide written permission for students requesting to miss instructional time on a regular basis. Families are encouraged to contact your child’s grade-level administrator regarding accommodations. View Regulation 1502. Visit FCPS' Religious Accommodations in Schools for Students webpage for more information.

If you believe your child requires this accommodation during instructional time, please reach out to their grade-level administrator.

All Night Grad Party!

Senior Families!

We are so excited to get the All Night Grad Party (ANGP) planned, funded, and off the ground but we need your help!

The ANGP Is a long-standing FCPS tradition providing a safe, fun and sober “lock-in” for seniors on June 11, 11pm to 5am, providing supervised fun, games, food, raffle prizes, goodie bags, gift-cards and entertainment.

We are funded exclusively through donations, fundraising, and primarily ticket sales.

There are several committees that you can be involved in to help make this party the best and it simply cannot be done without you.  Many parents have never done this before, and we are here to help each other.

Our first ANGP MEETING will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at 6:30 in the Robinson library. You can learn about the committees, the involvement, and all of the exciting things that go in to giving our seniors a safe and fun sendoff!

Please reach out to me if you have any questions and make sure you join the Robinson 2026 senior Facebook page or message me your email address and I can make sure you are on the distribution for emailed updates.
