★ Upon arrival, parents will be asked to share their plan for ALL of the early release Wednesdays (Students will be sent home at 12:25. As a last resort, if supervision is needed, coverage by non-classroom adults will be provided until dismissal at 3:25). Parents will then join their child’s classroom teacher for the evening presentation.
★ At the beginning of each session, there will be a short video featuring some important updates from the School Board, Superintendent Dr. Reid, the PTA and Principal Bob D’Amato.
★ Times are staggered on September 4th so parents may attend presentations for more than one grade level. We have allowed for a 10-minute overlap, so parents of multiple children will only need to view the video once.
★ There will be no child care provided. Please plan accordingly.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Grades 3 - 6
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) believes in supporting social and emotional learning (SEL) for all students. In FCPS, students use a tool called the SEL Screener to think about their own SEL skills and experiences at school. Deer Park students in grades 3 - 6 will be participating in the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener in the Fall and Spring.
After each screening, results are available in the Documents tab of SIS ParentVUE and mailed to families without a ParentVUE account. For more information about the SEL Screener including information on opting out please see the attached Parent Notification. Safety First
Safety drills are crucial for preparing students and staff for potential emergencies. Bus evacuation drills are part of learning to be safe while on the school bus, ensuring everyone knows the procedures to follow in case of an incident.
Here are our Kindergarten students practicing what to do in the event of having to evacuate the bus.

One School, One Book
This week we began The Wild Robot! Join the Deer Park Teachers and Staff for recorded chapters each day.
Students and families can access the recordings by logging into Schoology and visit the Library Course/Materials page.
We will have a trivia question each day on the news with a winner picked the next day.

Asha - Jyothi
We are pleased to share that we are once again partnering with a non-profit named Asha-Jyothi to support their 17th annual 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, September 21st at Fairfax Corner at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds raised will go towards student field trips, supporting school-wide, hands on learning experiences to include STEAM, family and community engagements, and to support student and staff needs. Asha-Jyothi has generously agreed to donate 100% of the registration money back to each participating school AND
