Hello Lake Anne Family,
We’ve had a wonderful week back at school! Our teachers and students are starting off strong by setting expectations and ensuring that all classrooms embody our Lake Anne Core Beliefs of Rigor, Relationships, and Respect. As an administrative team, we had the joy of visiting classrooms this week and seeing the warm, welcoming communities that students and teachers are already building together.
As we begin to dive deeper into Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) with students, we want to share how this connects to our Lake Anne Core Beliefs. In the coming weeks, our administrative team will be visiting every classroom to talk with students about SR&R and how it supports a safe, respectful, and rigorous learning environment. We also ask that every family digitally sign the SR&R acknowledgement via ParentVue. Once you log into your ParentVue account, you will be able to complete this and other important forms. For guidance on accessing your ParentVue account, watch this video.
Thank you for all of your cooperation and support throughout the week. We are looking forward to an impactful year for the Lake Anne community!

This week, we were excited to welcome Dr. Jameile Choice, Region Assistant Superintendent for Region 1, to Lake Anne! Dr. Choice enjoyed walking through our school and seeing our students in action as they worked on building strong learning communities with their teachers. He is a strong advocate for equity, innovation, and academic excellence, and he looks forward to supporting Lake Anne throughout this school year.
In addition, we were also delighted to host Melanie Meren, School Board Member for the Hunter Mill District, at our Open House last Friday. She received a warm welcome from the Lake Anne community, and we are grateful for all she does to advocate for our students.
¡Esta semana nos dio mucho gusto dar la bienvenida a la Dra. Jameile Choice, Superintendente Asistente Regional de la Región 1, a Lake Anne! La Dra. Choice disfrutó recorrer nuestra escuela y ver a nuestros estudiantes en acción mientras trabajaban en la construcción de sólidas comunidades de aprendizaje. Ella es una gran defensora de la equidad, la innovación y la excelencia académica, y espera con entusiasmo apoyar a Lake Anne durante este año escolar.

We want to remind our families how important it is for our dolphins to arrive on time each day. Instruction begins promptly at 8:50 a.m., and it’s important that students are here and ready to learn from the very start of the day. School doors open at 8:35 a.m., allowing plenty of time for students to get settled in their classrooms before learning begins.
If you need to pick up your dolphin early, please remember to bring a photo ID with you. This helps us ensure the safety of all our students.

Queremos recordarles a nuestras familias lo importante que es que nuestros delfines lleguen a tiempo cada día. La instrucción comienza puntualmente a las 8:50 a.m., y es fundamental que los estudiantes estén aquí y listos para aprender desde el inicio del día. Las puertas de la escuela se abren a las 8:35 a.m., lo que les da tiempo suficiente para acomodarse en sus salones antes de que empiece el aprendizaje.

This week your child came home with a blue first day folder. Please review the information in the folder and return the approproate forms to your child's teacher no later than Wednesday, August 27th.

Kiss & Ride Reminders

All families who plan to use Kiss & Ride at any point this year must complete this google form. Families who used Kiss & Ride last year still need to register again and will be given a new number.
- With many new families joining us this year and to ensure safety of our students at dismissal, Blue Kiss & Ride numbers are no longer valid and students will not be dismissed to a blue card. Please use the form above to sign up for a new Kiss & Ride number and pick up your packet in the office, which includes the updated yellow cards.

If you already submitted the form but haven’t received your packet, please stop by the front office to pick it up and sign the Kiss & Ride contract.

☑️ Update Your Contact Information
Be sure you receive important information! Update your phone number(s) and/or email address(es) in the Parent/Guardian section of SIS ParentVUE.
☑️ Update Immunizations and Records
Immunizations are required for all students to attend school in Virginia. This is an important part of protecting them from certain diseases and keeping them healthy.
When your child is immunized, remember to request a copy of their immunization record and bring that to our front office or submit the record via SIS ParentVUE as soon as possible. Find more information on FCPS’ website.
☑️ Learn About School Meals
Parents/caregivers need to provide their students with money to purchase meals at school, send them with a packed lunch, or apply (and be approved) for free and reduced-price meal benefits.
☑️ Bookmark the School Year Calendar
Be sure to bookmark the FCPS school year calendar to keep track of school holidays, breaks, and observances:
- Days marked with a blue “H” are student holidays. Schools are closed on these days.
- Days marked with an orange “O” are religious and cultural observance days (or evenings, if only half marked). There is school on these days, but certain events that cannot be made up may not be scheduled on these days.
- Days marked in pink are holidays for students but working days for teachers and staff.
Please note that some holidays and observances, such as Eid al Fitr, may shift, and the calendar may be adjusted.
