 Hello Mustangs,
What a fantastic first week! Thank you for your partnership and the generous classroom donations (e.g., tissues and wipes). Student laptops have been distributed (please note that fees apply for loss or damage), and teachers will soon share information regarding any applicable elective class fees. Please note, our staff (pictured below) and students jumped right in, establishing the routines and structures that will help everyone belong and thrive this year. Therefore, thank you for trusting us with your students and the effort you put in every day. As always, please let me know if you have any questions, feedback, or concerns, and we will see you on Monday!

PE Spirit Wear
Please consider sporting some new South County Spirit Wear and helping the PE department fund new equipment! The online store is open now and closes Monday, September 8! Make sure to include your students PE teacher on the 2nd address line to help with easy delivery.
Chromebooks
Each student has received a Chromebook. We ask that your student leave the shell protective case on their device, as students and families are responsible for any damage that occurs to the Chromebook. The amounts for lost, damaged, and broken items related to the Chromebook are below.
Chromebook replacement (no case): $480
Charger replacement: $28
Case replacement: $34
Broken screen: $84
Broken keyboard/touchpad: $55
Top half of Chromebook sticker/marker removal: $32
Bottom half of Chromebook sticker/marker removal: $32
Class Fees
The following classes have class fees. You are able to pay these fees through MySchoolBucks, Cash, or Check (made payable to South County Middle School)
Band - $25
Orchestra - $25
Chorus - $25
FACS - $25
Art - Ranging between $25-$40 depending on the class
Engineering - $25

FCPS Cell Phone Policy
FCPS’ cell phone policy helps students focus, learn, and engage. When students put their phones away, they have more face-to-face interactions with their peers and teachers and more opportunities to develop resilience and problem-solving skills. Please remind your child that:

Cell phones and personal devices (airpods, earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell).

Smart watches that serve a dual purpose may be worn, but the phone features (texting, Internet viewing, and calls) are to be off when phone use is prohibited.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call our main office at 703-690-5500.
La política de FCPS con los teléfonos celulares ayuda a los estudiantes a concentrarse, a aprender y a involucrarse. Cuando los estudiantes guardan sus celulares, tienen más interacciones cara a cara con sus compañeros y los maestros tienen más oportunidades para desarrollar sus habilidades de resiliencia y de resolución de problemas.
