Wolf Pack Words

Dear Oak Hill Elementary Community,

Welcome back, Wolf Pack! What a fantastic first week we've had. The halls are full of energy, the classrooms are filled with the sound of new friendships forming, and our students are already diving into learning. It has been a true joy to welcome all of you back to a new school year.

A huge thank you to our incredible PTA who provided our staff a wonderful lunch during the teacher work week. Our PTA will also be purchasing grade-level t-shirts for ALL students this year. Please see the bottom of the Wolf Pack Weekly to submit sizes!

Lunchtime Routines

To ensure we establish strong, independent routines for all students, we kindly ask that parents and family members do not join their students for lunch for the first month of school. This allows our staff and students to build consistent routines, learn the cafeteria flow, and get to know each other.

Important Work!

Just this morning, I witnessed a powerful reminder of the important work happening in our schools. Mr. Gordon Stokes, a Region 5 Executive Principal, was visiting Oak Hill and ran into former student and current Oak Hill parent. This parent reflected on the impact Mr. Stokes had on her as a student and on her career.

Oak Hill Welcomes the PreK Program!

This morning, our first class of PreK students and their families came to Oak Hill for an orientation. We are so happy to have this program started and can't wait for our first day on Monday!

Back to School Night

We are thrilled to invite you to Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 26th. This adults-only evening is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teacher, see their classroom, and learn more about the curriculum and expectations for the year ahead. We'll share important information and answer your questions to help everyone get a great start. See below for more details!

A Reminder for Safe Arrival and Dismissal

Our top priority is the safety of every child. As we all settle into our daily routines, please be extra vigilant during arrival and dismissal times. We ask for your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure a smooth and safe process for everyone. Please follow the directions of our staff members and always use the designated drop-off and pickup zones. Your attention to these details helps keep our entire community safe.

Words of Wisdom

During dismissal on Tuesday, I ran into a second grader who had dropped a very special post-it. I read it and thought these were critical words to remember day to day. "You're feeling good about yourself and ready to learn. Smart people don't get everything right."

Post it with the words "Your feeling good about yourself, and ready to learn. Smart people don't get everything right."

I want to thank this student for putting into words what we want for our students every day. We want our students to feel good about who they are, be ready to learn, and to realize that mistakes are essential for growth.

Thank you for your partnership and trust. We are excited about all that our students will accomplish this year, and we are grateful to be on this journey with you.

In partnership,

Kelly Durso, Principal

Shelia Sobeski, Assistant Principal
