Principal's Message
Dear Langley Families,
I am thrilled to welcome you to the start of another exciting school year at Langley High School! The energy and anticipation on campus have been electric, and I can’t wait to see our halls filled with our students.
This year, we continue our commitment to excellence—challenging each student to grow academically, socially, and personally while fostering a community grounded in respect, resilience, and integrity.
The first week of school is a time for fresh starts and new possibilities. Whether you’re a freshman finding your way around for the first time, a senior preparing for life after graduation, or somewhere in between, know that you are an essential part of our Langley story.
I look forward to celebrating your successes, cheering you on through challenges, and seeing all that we will accomplish as a community this year. If you are driving to campus on Monday, please plan to leave early and follow our traffic patterns, as we will be extremely busy with arrivals on the first few days.
Here’s to a great start and an even greater year ahead—Go Saxons!
Best, Mr. Stroud

We Are a Phone-Free School!
Please remind your student that cell phones and personal devices (including AirPods, earbuds, headsets, and other items connected to the internet) are no longer permitted during passing periods. Phones and personal devices must be turned off and stored away for the entire school day (from the bell to the bell, 8:10 am-2:55 pm), except during lunchtime in designated lunch spaces (cafeteria and cafeteria courtyard). Cell phones are also not permitted to be used as an instructional tool.
If you need to contact your student during the school day, please call our front office at (703) 287 2700. Learn more about FCPS’ cell phone policy, which helps students stay focused, safe, and engaged at school.
Detection Screening
Beginning on Monday, students will enter the building through Door #10 or Door #14 during arrival. Please review this information with your student(s), as this is a change in practice from previous years. After 8:10 am, all students and visitors must enter the building through Door #14. We will continue to screen students, parents, and visitors at Door#14 throughout the school day upon entering the building.
School doors will open at 7:40 am for students.
Items to be removed include:
- Three-ring binders
- Laptops
- Collapsible umbrellas
- Metal lunch boxes
- Metal pencil cases
- Metal glass cases
These items can remain in a student’s bags:

You can learn more about the system by watching this video and reading the Frequently Asked Questions on FCPS’ website. If you have additional questions, you can submit them online to the FCPS Chief of Safety and Security Office.
Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) Updates for 2025-26 School Year
At their May 8 meeting, the Fairfax County School Board approved changes to the SR&R, including its cell phone policy. Other SR&R updates include added clarity and/or procedures around topics such as discipline data, parent notifications, hate speech, and integrated discipline training. The full list of changes is available on Boarddocs.
High School Grading Updates
New grading policies will be implemented for all middle and high school classes in the 2025-26 academic year. The goal of these changes is to increase consistency and clarity of grading practices.

Request PSAT and SAT School Day Testing Accommodations and Multilingual Support
FCPS high schools will give the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) to 10th and 11th graders on Wednesday, October 8. That same day, 12th-graders who sign up will participate in SAT School Day.
Because these exams are operated by the College Board, students do not automatically receive testing accommodations or multilingual support. Families can view Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about College Board accommodations on the FCPS website.
If you have a student with disabilities in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this school year, please review the accommodations request process and return forms to the high school by Monday, August 4.
If you have a multilingual learner (ML) in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this school year, please review the ML support request process and return forms to the high school by Monday, August 4.
When returning forms to request College Board testing accommodations or ML supports, deliver to:
ATTN: Catherine Fleury Langley HS 6520 Georgetown Pike McLean, VA 22101
OR email at: ccfleury@fcps.edu

🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 12th Graders
Additional immunizations are required for students entering 12th grade:
- All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) prior to the beginning of school.
- To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.
Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time.
Additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and the Fairfax County Health Department.
Updated immunization records can be submitted to Langley HS in the following ways:
-
Starting July 25: Upload the updated immunization records to ParentVue.
- Here are the directions for uploading documentation to ParentVue.
- If you do not have access to ParentVue, you may drop off a hard copy of the immunization records for us to upload.

Senior College Night Presentation
Attention Class of 2026 students and parents! On Tuesday, August 26th at 6:30 p.m., the school counseling team will be hosting our annual Senior Night. This program follows right on the heels of the Senior Class Dinner. We welcome you to Langley to hear about the roles that we will play in helping you prepare for your next step after high school. Because of the very large college going population, most attention will be on what we do and provide as a school in your college searches and applications. But some of this also pertains to students who may be planning something different than college. We look forward to seeing you there!
