RVES News and Notes - August 15

August 15 - News and Notes!

Rolling Valley Families,

We are so excited to kick off the 2025–2026 school year! Our teachers have been hard at work organizing and preparing their classrooms to create welcoming spaces for a year full of learning.

Open House was a huge success! Thank you to all the families who were able to attend! If you couldn’t make it, please be sure to mark your calendar for Back to School Night on September 18 from 5:30–7:15 p.m.

To help make the first day of school special, all families are welcome to walk their child to their classroom on day one. Beginning on the second day, we’ll follow our usual drop-off procedures so students can start their day independently.

We will also host a Bye-Bye Breakfast in the cafeteria on the first day from 9:15-9:45, where families can connect and chat over light refreshments.

We are thrilled to partner with you for the new school year and can’t wait to see everyone Monday morning for the first day of school!

Doors - Arrival & Dismissal

Families, please check the map to see your child’s arrival and dismissal doors! As a reminder, to help Kiss & Ride run smoothly, we ask that no one park on Barnack Dr. in front of the school during dismissal hours. If you need to park and walk to pick up your child, please use Harland Dr. or park further down Barnack Dr.

We also kindly ask that you be mindful of our neighbors by not blocking driveways. Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for everyone!

Parent Digital Consent and Early Release Wednesdays

Complete Permission Forms Today - Families can easily grant permission for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. Opt your child in or out of online educational tools and choose how student information is managed. You may also opt in or opt out of after-school care on early release Wednesdays; read more below.

Visit FCPS’ Parent Digital Consent webpage to access the system. Watch this video to see how to use the tool.

Opt In/Opt Out for Early Release Wednesday Childcare

While we anticipate that most students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM on limited early release Wednesdays, we recognize that some families may require childcare. No new instruction will take place, as after-school care is strictly supervision.

Parents and caregivers should log in to the Parent Digital Consent system to review and provide consent to a variety of resources and services including Early Release Wednesday Childcare.

  • OPT IN if you require childcare on our limited early release Wednesdays.
  • OPT OUT if your child will go home (or to childcare arranged with SACC or another provider) at the early release time.

Families need to complete the opt in form by Monday, August 25, for after-school supervision for all early release Wednesdays. If a family needs to change their selection, they should notify our front office at least one week in advance to ensure enough staff are available to provide supervision.

Early release Wednesdays for RVES will be:

  • September 10
  • October 29

  • November 12

  • December 10

  • February 18

  • March 18

  • April 22

  • May 13

FCPS has created this webpage to provide detailed information about the early release Wednesdays.
