Dear Bailey’s Families,
We had a wonderful week at Bailey’s! All of our teachers and staff returned on Monday to begin preparing for the first day of school on Monday, August 18. We were thrilled to see so many of our families and students at yesterday’s Open House—it was a huge success! The hallways and classrooms were filled with excitement for the new year.
A big thank you to SevaTruck for providing free meals during Open House. We are excited to share that they will be back at Bailey’s this year as a partner, providing meals for our students and families.
On the first day of school, families are welcome to walk students to their classrooms. Doors open at 8:50 a.m. Once the 9:00 a.m. bell rings, our teachers and students will begin instruction, and we kindly ask parents to head to the nearest exit at that time.
Breakfast is free for all students and will be served at Doors 1, 2, and 3 as students enter the building. Students entering through other entrances can pick up breakfast in the cafeteria on their way to class.
We can’t wait to kick off another amazing school year together!

Labor Day
Friday, August 29, and Monday, September 1, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. Virginia legislation requires that schools opening prior to Labor Day must be closed the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends. See the complete school year calendar.
FCPS Schools Closed for Special Election
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has scheduled a special election for Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District. Since more than half of FCPS schools serve as polling places, the Fairfax County Office of Elections requested schools close that day to support safe and accessible voting.
As a result, all FCPS schools will be closed on Tuesday, September 9, 2025

⏰ Limited Early Release Days for Elementary Schools
Limited early release days for elementary schools will shift to Wednesdays for the 2025-26 school year. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 pm on these days.
Three-hour early release days for our school will include:
- September 17
- October 15
- November 19
- December 17
- February 25
- March 25
- April 29
- May 20
Read more about early release Wednesdays on the FCPS website.
Opt In/Opt Out for Early Release Wednesday Childcare
While we anticipate that most students will be dismissed at 12:45 pm on limited early release Wednesdays, we recognize that some families may require childcare. These students will not stay with their teacher or classmates and will be supervised by instructional assistants or other school-based staff. No new instruction will take place, as after-school care is strictly serving as supervision of your child.
Elementary school parents and caregivers should log in to the Parent Digital Consent system to review and provide consent to a variety of resources and services including Early Release Wednesday Childcare.
- OPT IN if you require childcare on our limited early release Wednesdays.
- OPT OUT if your child will go home (or to childcare arranged with SACC or another provider) at the early release time.
Families need to make their selection in the Parent Digital Consent system by Monday, August 25, to receive care for all early release Wednesdays.
Complete Permission Forms Today
Families can easily grant permission for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. Opt your child in or out of online educational tools and choose how student information is managed. You may also opt in or opt out of after-school care on early release Wednesdays; read more below.
Visit FCPS’ Parent Digital Consent webpage to access the system. Watch this video to see how to use the tool.
Kiss and Ride
Planning to use Kiss and Ride for dismissal this school year? Please complete this form for the 2025–2026 school year.
Since it’s a new school year, all families will receive new Kiss and Ride numbers—you will not keep the number assigned in previous years. Car tags will be sent home during the first week of school.

🩹 Update Your Child’s Immunizations and Records
Please check with your health care provider as soon as possible to make sure your child is up to date on the immunizations required by the state of Virginia. Prior to the start of school on Monday, August 18, please submit your child’s immunization documentation. If your child has an appointment to receive their required immunizations after August 18, please submit an Immunization Action Plan to confirm the appointment.
You can check your child’s immunization compliance and submit their immunization record in SIS ParentVUE. Records may also be delivered to our front office. If needed, families may also provide other immunization documentation including a health care provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption or a notarized Religious Exemption Form. Please visit the FCPS How to Submit Immunization Documentation webpage for step-by-step instructions on how to submit each of these items.
If your child needs a vaccine, please make an appointment with your health care provider or visit the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and the Fairfax County Health Department website for local immunization clinics and additional resources.
💻 Catch Up on Your Child’s Classwork in Schoology
Teachers use Schoology to post their classroom materials online; to provide a secure forum for students to discuss their ideas and collaborate on projects; and to assign and collect homework electronically. It helps students stay organized, and it keeps the class connected.
A Schoology Parent Account gives you access to:
- Your child’s classes.
- Your child’s upcoming assignments.
- School, class, and group announcements.
Parent accounts will be available after Monday, August 18. To access Schoology, parents will need to have an active SIS/ParentVUE account. Get more information on how to login and use Schoology.
Help Keep Students Safe — Become a Crossing Guard
Dependable and caring adults are needed to serve as crossing guards, helping students safely bike and walk to and from our schools. This is a great opportunity for retirees, stay-at-home parents, or anyone looking to make a difference in their community. Crossing guards will earn $16.50 per hour and receive bonus time: Work 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after school for a total of one hour a day and earn $33.00.
The Fairfax County Police Department has engaged a company, ACMS, to recruit crossing guards. Please visit their website to learn more and apply.
