 The final days of summer are winding down and we are gearing up for a great school year.
The first day of school is Monday, August 18. Our school hours are 8:15 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. Students are able to enter the building at 8:05 a.m. Breakfast and lunch are served every day.
Lemon Road lions arrive to school by walking, riding bikes/scooters, the FCPS bus, or Kiss & Ride. Parents that drive their children to school must park legally in a parking space, turn off their vehicle, exit the car, and walk their child across the crosswalk/parking lot to the door of the school. Children are not permitted to cross through the parking lot unattended. Parents dropping off must go through Kiss & Ride - there is no drop off in front of the school.
Reminder that parents may walk their child to the classroom door on the 1st day of school. Please then allow your child to begin their day and parents may join the PTA in the cafeteria for Tears & Cheers refreshments!

 Tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, August 14, is filled with family events at Lemon Road to kick off the school year. Stop by and visit us!
- New families are encouraged to join us in the cafeteria for a New Family Orientation and Tours beginning at 1 PM. This will be similar to our Kindergarten or Full-Time AAP Orientations held in the spring.
- All families are welcomed to join us for Open House at 2 PM. Families may visit your child's classroom, drop off supplies, and say hi to new and old friends.
- Finally, join our staff on the blacktop from 2:45 - 3:30 PM for a casual Back to School Social & Snacks. We will have bottled water, chips, and popsicles/ice cream to welcome everyone. The Kona Ice Truck will also have additional treats available for purchase.

Mr. Hickman and Mr. VT are excited to see you and can't wait to have another great year with our patrols. If you are a returning patrol from Lemon Road or another FCPS school, please come by the DJ Booth outside during the Welcome Back Social & Snacks to get your belt after open house tomorrow. If you are in 5th or 6th grade and interested in becoming a new patrol this year, please fill out our QR code and report to the first meeting of the year. QR codes will be posted during Open House and on the P.E office door for the first week of school.
We will begin first week of the school year with returning patrols in temporary posts and will assign official posts during or following our first patrol meeting. Students that cannot make it to Open House may get their belt when they come to the gym on the 1st day of school (all 5th and 6th graders will automatically be coming to the gym with their class).

- Parents/guardians of children with food allergies or dietary restrictions must have this form completed by their physician and sent according to the instructions.
Throughout the school year, we provide refreshments for our hard working staff in the staff lounge and at required meetings & trainings. We need your help with donations of individual snacks or drinks to make this happen. Our staff love a variety of sweet, salty, healthy snacks as well as sparkling water, soda, and k-cups. If you are out shopping and can pick up an extra box, drop it off in the main office and our staff thanks you! Once the year starts, we will put out a list of favorite items, but for now any donation is much appreciated! Thank you!
Know when your bus is approaching your stop. Here Comes the Bus® app is a school bus tracking app that provides real-time bus location. This helps parents and students get to the bus stop on time. Here Comes the Bus® utilizes our GPS data and available on multiple devices.

☑️ Learn About School Meals -Parents/caregivers need to provide their students with money to purchase meals at school, send them with a packed lunch, or apply (and be approved) for free and reduced-price meal benefits.
Starting this school year, students will enter their student ID number — not their current cafeteria PIN — at the cash register to receive school meals.
