Dear Stratford Landing Families,
Your SLES staff is working hard to ensure a joyful, safe school opening. Our building is bursting with positivity and optimism as we prepare to open for the new school year. We have so many successes to celebrate from last year, and we’re building on that positive momentum to deliver an impactful and memorable school year. Onward!
Please review this communication carefully for critical back to school information, including information regarding class assignments. Reach out directly to me at kmorris@fcps.edu with any questions you may have as we return to school.
Let's go, Dolphins! We. Can't. Wait. To. See. You!
Thank you.
Kevin Morris, Principal
Class Placement Communication
On Thursday, August 14, class placements will be finalized, live and available to view in your Student Information System (SIS) ParentVue account. If you do not have a SIS ParentVUE account, please email Kris Rakes at kerakes@fcps.edu as soon as possible. If you are joining us from another school, your SIS ParentVUE account is the same. If you are unsure if you have a SIS ParentVUE account, use this link to verify. If you do not have a SIS ParentVUE account you will need an activation key from Kris Rakes first before registering. If you have questions about your SIS ParentVUE account, please call the Stratford Landing main office at 703-619-3600.
We will also have class lists available at our Open House and on the first day of school if you are unable to access this information prior to attending.
Special Education Case Manager Letters
If you are a parent/guardian of a student with an Individualized Education Program (IEP), you will receive an email with the Special Education Case Manager Letter by Monday, August 18th indicating your student’s case manager for the school year. At Open House, you will have an opportunity to briefly meet your case manager.
Special Circumstances, Class Placement Communication
Some families may receive additional communication about their student’s class placement for this school year. That communication will be sent by Thursday, Aug 14.

Emergency Contact Information - ParentVue
Your emergency contact information is a key piece of information in our office. Phone numbers, addresses, and those adults you permit to take your child from school should be kept current. Please update your student’s Emergency Care Card through your Parent View account during the first week of school. Beginning the second week of school, paper copies will begin to go home with those students still needing an updated form.
Thursday, August 14, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, SLES Open House and Resource Fair
Our Open House is an informal event prior to the start of school for students and families to tour the building, meet and greet SLES staff members, collect general information about classes and programs, meet new friends in class, drop off school supplies, and have a chance to sign up for classroom and PTA opportunities. While at Stratford, please visit the many organizations and vendors in the hallways and cafeteria that will be here for our Resource Fair.
Thursday, August 14, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Kindergarten “Early Access”
Kinder families and students may visit their classrooms starting at 1:00 pm. This is a great way for our new Dolphins to see the building and their classrooms. Only Kindergarten families are permitted to come at this time. We ask you do not visit other classroom teachers during this time.
Tuesday, August 26, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, SLES Back to School Night
Our Back to School Night (BTSN) provides a structured opportunity for parents and guardians to meet with teachers and learn detailed information about academics, school and classroom routines, curriculum changes, expectations for the school year, supports for students, communication methods, etc.
First Day of School
Families are invited to escort their student to class on the first day of school only. Students enter the building at Door 1 (main entrance) and Door 4 (back of building) only. In order to quickly establish safety routines, we ask our families give their hugs, high-fives and good-byes outside of the building after the first day of school.
Student Medication
Students are not permitted to transport medication to and from school. This includes over the counter medication. Families should bring their student’s medication to our Open House or reach out to Jeanne O’Hara, our School Health Aid, at jmohara1@fcps.edu to schedule a drop-off appointment.
School Supplies
We are excited to continue our use of grade level communal supplies. View each grade level’s supply list using this link and sign up today to commit to school supplies for use by all students at each grade level. We are still in need of families to sign up for school supplies. Please bring these supplies with you to our Open House. You may also bring these supplies the first day / week of school and to our upcoming Back to School Night.
Food Services and My School Bucks
April Niefer, aniefer@fcps.edu, our Cafeteria Manager, will be available at our Open House. Learn more about purchasing school meals using this link.
