Summer Edition - August, 2025
Dear CRES Community,
We hope you had a fantastic summer! We're creating a "Summer With Math" bulletin board and would love to feature how our Centre Ridge family saw and used math over the break.
Share Your Summer Math Moments!
Did you:
- Use money while shopping or saving?
- Count anything interesting, like the number of steps on a hike or items in a collection?
- Use fractions when baking or cooking a delicious treat?

Measure something, whether it was ingredients for a recipe or the growth of a plant?
- Spot shapes in buildings, nature, or around your home?
- Use addition or subtraction while playing a board game or keeping score in a sports
How to Participate
It's easy! Just fill out this form or email your name, picture and caption to Helene Terry at hsterry@fcps.edu. She'll print your submission and proudly display it on our bulletin board at school.
We can't wait to see all the creative ways you found math in your summer adventures!
This event is sponsored by Mount Olive Baptist Church and is operated independently of the Fairfax County School Board, the Superintendent, and Centre Ridge Elementary School.

11:00 - Noon Kindergarten and Grades 1-2
Noon - 1:00pm Cookout on the playground
1:00 - 2:00pm Grades 3-6
Monday, Aug. 18th @ 8:30am - First day of School
Wednesday Sept. 10th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm - Back to School Night
