A Message from Principal Ritter
Dear Kings Glen Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We are thrilled to begin another exciting year of learning and growing. Whether you are returning for another year or joining us for the first time, we are so glad you are part of Gator Nation.
It has been a busy summer at Kings Glen, and we are excited to be welcoming staff back on August 11th and even more excited to see everyone on Friday, August 15th during Open House. Families and students will be notified of who their teachers are via a midday email from their homeroom teacher on Monday, August 11th.

Kings Glen Open House
Friday, August 15th, 9:30-10:15 a.m.
Join us on Friday, August 15 from 9:30-10:15 a.m. for the Kings Glen Open House. Open House is a time for students and families to informally meet the teacher, reconnect with friends, visit with new classmates, and to explore the school. Staff members will be on hand to give extra assistance during the open house to help you find your child’s classroom. Families are welcome to drop off school supplies during the visit. Stay tuned for more details!
Kings Glen Back To School Night
Wednesday, August 20th, 6-8 p.m.
Join us for this important event where classroom teachers and school staff will share key information about the year ahead. Parents and guardians will learn about grade-level curriculum updates—including state and division-wide changes—what students will be learning this year.
You'll also hear about school-wide, grade-level, and classroom expectations and the strategies teachers will use to support your child’s success. This is a valuable opportunity to begin building a strong partnership with your child’s homeroom teacher, meet the specialists, and connect with other families.
We strongly encourage all families to attend. Our home-school partnership is invaluable, and your presence makes a difference!
Kings Glen Garden Clean Up!
Thursday, August 7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Help get the KG gardens ready for the new school year and fall planting season! We are going to have a garden clean-up day on Thursday, August 7 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. There are two shifts to pick from for the signups. We will be spreading mulch, weeding (lots and lots of weeding), and cleaning up the garden beds. If you are able to help out, please sign up here. Please reach out to Lisa Rode with any questions. Thank you!

We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Apply Today for Free and Reduced-Price Meals!
According to the Centers for Disease Control, eating breakfast at school is associated with better attendance rates, fewer missed school days, and better test scores. Students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals receive breakfast and lunch at school at no cost.
Families must complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the start of each school year. Approved applications may also qualify students for additional benefits. Access the application and view criteria on the Free and Reduced-Price Meals webpage
Students who were approved for free and reduced-price meals last year are eligible for the first 30 days of school this year (or until a new application is processed). Families should re-apply as soon as possible so eligible students continue to receive meals at no cost.
Support Your Child's Success by Checking SIS ParentVUE
Access your student’s attendance records, grades, and assignments at any time with SIS ParentVUE. Parents/caregivers should receive an activation code when they register their child. Contact the school registrar XXX if you need a code.
Once you have activated a SIS ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same SIS ParentVUE account. You may also access SIS ParentVUE using an app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.
Need help creating an account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
