Dear Oak View Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We are thrilled to begin another exciting year of learning, growth, and community at Oak View. Whether you are returning for another year or joining us for the first time, we are so glad you’re part of our Eagle family.
Last year, our theme, “Where Will Your Wings Take You?” encouraged students to dream big and explore new possibilities. This year, we’re building on that momentum with our new theme: “Soaring to New Heights.” It represents our shared commitment to growth, achievement, and embracing new challenges together.
Throughout the year, we will continue to help our students soar with WINGS by learning to:
-
Work and play responsibly
-
Include others and be kind
-
Notice and care for others and our school
-
Grow and learn together
-
Support safety for all
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Your Proud Principals, Ms. Luerssen, Ms. Hanson & Ms. Adams

Join us for this important event where classroom teachers and school staff will share key information about the year ahead. Families will learn about grade-level curriculum updates—including state and division-wide changes—what students will be learning, and exciting events like field trips planned for the year.
You'll also hear about school-wide, grade-level, and classroom expectations and the strategies teachers will use to support your child’s success. This is a valuable opportunity to begin building a strong partnership with your child’s homeroom teacher.
We strongly encourage all families to attend. Our home-school partnership is invaluable and your presence makes a difference!
Access your student’s attendance records, grades, and assignments at any time with SIS ParentVUE. Parents/caregivers should receive an activation code when they register their child. Contact the school registrar Regina Johnson- rljohnson2@fcps.edu if you need a code.
Once you have activated a SIS ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same SIS ParentVUE account. You may also access SIS ParentVUE using an app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.
Need help creating an account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
FCPS will continue to have monthly early release days for elementary schools. The purpose of these days is to allow additional time for staff to collaborate when planning instruction for students and to participate in professional development opportunities. The following are the early release Wednesdays for our school community:
- September 17th
- October 15th
- November 19th
- December 17th
- February 25th
- March 25th
- April 29th
- May 20th
On these days, we will dismiss students at 12:30 PM. For more information, please visit the following website: Early Release Wednesday Information
Make sure your child has all of their required immunizations before the first day of school. Check their immunization records to see what they might be missing. You can:
- Request immunization records online through the Virginia Immunization Information System (a free service).
- Get records from other states’ systems if your child was immunized outside of Virginia.
- Request records from your health care provider. Some may charge for copies.
Review school-required immunizations to verify that your child is up to date.
Friday, August 29, and Monday, September 1, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. Virginia legislation requires that schools opening prior to Labor Day must be closed the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends.
