Welcome Back Bobcats

We hope your summer has been filled with joy, relaxation, and quality time with loved ones. As the new school year approaches, we are excited to welcome you back to what promises to be a dynamic and empowering year at Pine Spring Elementary!

Our Theme for the Year: "Pine Spring: Leveling Up"

This year, we are embracing the theme “Pine Spring: Leveling Up.” Just like your favorite video games, progress is achieved through persistence, problem-solving, teamwork, and growth. At Pine Spring, we are “leveling up” our practices, strategies, and supports to help every child reach new heights. Our students are not just players in this journey; they are the heroes. At Pine Spring, we believe we are here to equip them with the tools they need to succeed.

Academic Excellence

Our commitment to academic excellence remains the foundation of our work. This year, we are leveling up instruction with targeted enhancements to our curriculum and teaching practices, fostering stronger literacy, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. With engaging, evidence-based approaches, our students will build confidence and accelerate their learning.

Extracurricular Opportunities

We know that learning extends beyond the classroom. With support from our PTA, students will have access to a wide range of after-school programs and enrichment opportunities, including clubs for math, art, running, and science. These experiences help students discover new passions and unlock their potential.

Community Engagement

A strong home-school connection is key to student success—and this year, we’re leveling up how we partner with families to support learning at home and at school.

In addition to our beloved family nights, cultural celebrations, and parent workshops, we are introducing more opportunities for families to actively engage in their child’s academic progress. This includes the introduction of meaningful, developmentally appropriate homework across all grade levels, designed to reinforce classroom instruction and give families a clear window into what their child is learning.

We will also provide tools and resources to help families feel confident in supporting their child's learning at home, whether it’s reading strategies, math games, or helping your child build strong study habits. Our goal is to make learning a shared experience between home and school, where families are equipped and empowered every step of the way.

We encourage every family to stay connected through Schoology, Talking Points, News You Choose, attending events, and participating in school activities. When families and schools work together, our students thrive.

This year is all about progress. Whether it’s building stronger routines, tackling new challenges, or celebrating small wins, we are committed to helping every child level up academically, socially, and emotionally.

Let’s make it a powerful year of growth and celebration!

Support Your Child’s Success by Checking SIS ParentVUE

Access your student’s attendance records, grades, and assignments at any time with SIS ParentVUE. Parents/caregivers should receive an activation code when they register their child. Contact the school registrar, Ms. Breeden if you need a code.

Once you have activated a SIS ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same SIS ParentVUE account. You may also access SIS ParentVUE using an app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.

Need help creating an account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.

🩹 Back-to-School Immunization Requirements

Make sure your child has all of their required immunizations before the first day of school. Check their immunization records to see what they might be missing. You can:

  1. Request immunization records online through the Virginia Immunization Information System (a free service).
  2. Get records from other states’ systems if your child was immunized outside of Virginia.
  3. Request records from your health care provider. Some may charge for copies.

Review school-required immunizations to verify that your child is up to date.

Where to Receive Immunizations

If your child needs an immunization, make an appointment with your family’s health care provider or one of the following clinics:

FCHD offers limited walk-in hours for immunization services on a first-come first served basis. Immunizations are also available by appointment.

  • Inova Cares Back to School Pediatric Health Fairs provide children ages 5 and up with free school physicals and immunizations. Weekday and weekend clinics are available in July and August. These health fairs are for VA Medicaid or Uninsured Inova registered patients only. Appointments are required. Call 703-698-2550 to make an appointment. Bring vaccine records to the appointment.

Local immunization clinics and additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and from the FCHD.
