Herndon's Success Spotlight

James Culatta Speaks at Region 1 Kickoff

.

At the recent FCPS Region 1 Kickoff event, attended by principals, assistant principals, directors of student services, directors of student activities, and other school-based leaders, Herndon High School graduate James Culatta shared his inspiring journey. James recounted his challenging experience overcoming a significant medical emergency that required extensive treatment and kept him out of school for months. Despite this immense setback, his determination and faith propelled him forward, enabling him to not only earn a starring role in the school's spring musical but also to graduate on time. His story served as a powerful testament to resilience and perseverance for the assembled educational leaders.

Course Selections for 2025-2026

School counselors are currently on their summer break and will return to work on August 4, 2025. Course selections will be locked throughout this time as we continue to build our master schedule for this school year. If students would like to request a course selection change they may do so starting August 4 by emailing their school counselor. Please note that changes will only be made based on space availability and course offerings.

💻 PSAT and SAT Test Information

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will offer the SAT School Day to 12th-grade students and the PSAT/NMSQT to 10th and 11th-grade students on October 8, 2025, at Herndon High School. Both tests will be administered digitally, and some testing accommodations will differ from paper/pencil tests. Students with disabilities and multilingual learners may be eligible for accommodations or supports, but formal requests must be submitted in advance to the College Board for approval. If a student already has College Board accommodations approved from a previous test, no further action is needed as accommodations remain in place for all College Board testing. For new or amended IEP or 504 accommodations for the SAT School Day, forms are due by August 4, 2025, to Drew Murphy (IEP students) or Matt Dell’Orso (504 students). Multilingual learner supports, which are temporary and require annual requests, are due by August 28, 2025, to Karl Gussow. Additional details will be shared at the start of the school year. For more information, visit the Herndon HS website.
