One-Time Bonus for Eligible Employees in June Paychecks

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has provided funding towards a one-time bonus of $1,000 to promote retention among instructional and operational staff. This bonus is part of a larger budget agreement that included increased funding for education.

We appreciate our FCPS employees’ service, dedication, and continuous contributions. Active eligible employees (those employed as of Monday, June 2, who are continuing employment after June 30) will be paid a bonus.

Full-time contracted employees and Schedule H contracted employees who are not temporary hourly will receive $1,000 (part-time contracted employees will receive a prorated amount). Temporary hourly employees are not eligible for the bonus.

Bi-weekly paid employees will receive the bonus in their paycheck on Friday, June 27. Monthly-paid employees will receive it in their paycheck Monday, June 30. For more detailed information, visit the employee bonus webpage.

🎈 FCPS CARES Winner Connects Beyond Academics

FCPS CARES allows parents/caregivers, staff, and community members to recognize employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. Among the CARES of the Month recipients for April is Deer Park Elementary School Kindergarten Teacher Laura Muscar, pictured between Principal Bob Damato, and Assistant Principal Heather Hitz.

“We have been consistently impressed by her dedication, passion, and ability to create a truly engaging and supportive learning environment,” wrote a parent. “She takes the time to connect with her students, getting to know them beyond academics. [My son] has blossomed into a skillful reader, writer, and mathematician under her guidance. He frequently comes home excited to share what he has learned and often expresses a desire to email Mrs. Muscar over the weekend to share his experiences and how they connect to his learning.”

Other FCPS CARES of the Month recipients include:

  • Haroon Rasheed and Colette Mendoza, Gatehouse Administration Center
  • Brandi Debrah, Herndon High School
  • Krista Smith, Beech Tree Elementary School
  • Beth Hendricks, Groveton Elementary School
  • Tiff Duncan, Carlisle Kramer, Jason Wellington, Todd Diamond, and Mara Hennessy; West Springfield High School
  • Sherin Al Maidani, Forestdale Elementary School

  • Help students stand out during the college admissions process.
  • Save families money on tuition by earning a qualifying exam score or grade in the course.

✨ Access to advanced courses is part of the FCPS 2023-30 Strategic Plan Goal 3: Academic Growth and Excellence, and Goal 4: Equitable Access and Opportunity.

The Importance of Belonging
