FCPS 2025-2026 Standard School Year Calendar
Dear GBW Families,
This year, our school truly embodied our mission statement: "At Greenbriar West Elementary School, we foster a kind, welcoming, and inclusive learning community where staff, students and families work collaboratively, celebrate diversity, and strive for high expectations and academic excellence." We saw this mission come to life in countless ways. We saw so many of your children thrive in a kind, welcoming, and inclusive environment, where children were loved, respected, and included as valuable members of our learning community. We are so proud of the many successes celebrated at the end of the year as shown in our end of year testing results. Beyond our standardized testing results, we are particularly proud of our students with disabilities who were able to meet / exceed their IEP goals. And several of our students continued to grow in the area of social and emotional learning. Thank you to all the GBW staff who contributed to these amazing successes!
The love of reading flourished, with an astounding 34,795 library books checked out from our library!...a testament to our students' curiosity and the rich literary world we've cultivated! Our amazing musical performances from band, strings, and chorus showcased the incredibly diverse talents within our school, filling our halls with beautiful melodies and proud smiles. And who could forget the joy of Field Day, where our entire community came together for a day of spirited athletic activities and shared laughter!
Lastly, I want to share a big thank you to our PTA and families who helped us to organize so many enriching assemblies and joyful community events that brought our school together as a GBW family! You are the vital bridge that connects our school staff to our vibrant parent community, and frankly, we couldn't do what we do without you. Your tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and belief in Greenbriar West Elementary allow our teachers to focus on teaching and our students to thrive. We are so profoundly grateful for your strong partnership with our school. PTA, Parents, and Guardians- each of your unique talents, boundless energy, and the countless hours of volunteerism you so freely give are an immeasurable gift to our students, our staff, and the entire GBW community. Thank you for consistently going above and beyond!
To all our amazing students: We're wishing you a truly relaxing, joyful, and memorable summer break! We can't wait to connect with you at our Summer Library events, and we're already looking forward to seeing your faces at our Open House Event and on the First Day of school, Monday, August 18th!"
Sincerely,
Mr. Blount and Mrs. Odom
