What an unforgettable final week we’ve had here at Bucknell!
🎓 We kicked things off by saying farewell to our big dogs at the 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony. It was a beautiful celebration of our students’ growth and accomplishments, and a proud send-off into their next adventure!
🎉 On Tuesday evening, families came together for Bucky’s Big Night Out—and what a night it was! With free snowcones, bounce houses, and nonstop fun, it was the perfect way to celebrate a year well spent.
🎭 Then on Wednesday morning—the last day of school—we lit up the stage with our annual Talent Show!
Our amazing students wowed us with singing, dancing, piano, and live guitar performances. We laughed, we clapped, and we couldn’t stop smiling.
A huge thank-you to all of our talented performers—and to our amazing cohosts, Ms. Parham and Ms. Dua, who kept the energy high and the crowd cheering from start to finish!
🕺 And to close out the year, we threw the ultimate Dance Party Send-Off!
The music was pumping, the joy was overflowing, and it was the perfect way to celebrate our students one last time before summer break.
Special shoutout to John, our lead night custodian, who had the best dance moves of the day.
Next year’s dance coach? We haven’t told him yet… shhh!
💙 As we waved goodbye to our Bulldogs—some for the summer, some for the very last time—our hearts were full. Thank you for being part of this amazing Bucknell community. Your support, energy, and kindness have made this year one to remember.
We wish you a safe, happy, and restful summer. We can’t wait to see you again in August!

¡Qué semana tan inolvidable hemos vivido aquí en Bucknell!
🎓 Comenzamos despidiéndonos de nuestros grandes Bulldogs en la Ceremonia de Promoción de 6.º grado. Fue una hermosa celebración del crecimiento y los logros de nuestros estudiantes, y una merecida despedida rumbo a su próxima aventura.

FCPS will be sending students home with two Benchmark magazines to help them practice their reading and writing skills during the summer. You will also receive a letter from our school with weekly learning plans and activities.

What is Jump Start?
The purpose of the 2025 Jump Start Program is to introduce rising 7th grade students to Carl Sandburg Middle School, as well as 8th grade students new to Fairfax County Public Schools.
Students will become familiar with the school layout, including classroom locations, cafeteria setup, boys’ and girls’ gym locker rooms, and more! Our goal is to ease your child’s transition to middle school while also covering helpful topics such as positive study habits, time management, and organization skills.
The Jump Start Program helps reduce first-day anxiety and uncertainty. During the program, future Panthers will meet teachers and former 7th grade students who will help guide them through the experience.

¿Qué es Jump Start?

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is excited to support student learning over the summer. This Summer Learning Resources Webpage includes optional digital activities in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies for students in Grades K-6.
The activities are grouped by grade level and match what students have learned in school this year. Families can use them anytime to review, practice, or explore new ideas at home.
Resources utilize digital tools that students may have used throughout the year such as Science A-Z, Pebble Go, Gizmos, Newsela, MyOn, Britannica Elementary, ST Math, and Benchmark Advance
These activities require a device to access and some require students to log in through their FCPS Google account. Students may use a home device or their FCPS school device. If your child needs to borrow a device, they may check one out from their school prior to the last day of school. (Devices will need to be returned by July 30.) Some digital resources in Clever may be temporarily unavailable in August in preparation for the new school year.

Our last community meeting for the first part of Phase 2 of the comprehensive boundary review was held June 6. Please stay tuned for summaries of each meeting, along with additional data, which will be shared next week.
As a reminder, no boundary changes have been proposed for the upcoming (2025-26) school year.
Whether you were able to attend a meeting or not, we encourage you to use the Boundary Explorer Tool to see how the initial draft scenarios may affect boundaries. Also, be sure to visit our Comprehensive Boundary Review webpage for information about this process. If you have a question or comment, please submit it on our website.

The Fairfax County Police Department shares these resources to help keep children safe online.

At their May 8 meeting, the Fairfax County School Board approved changes to the SR&R, including its cell phone policy. Other SR&R updates include added clarity and/or procedures around topics such as discipline data, parent notifications, hate speech, and integrated discipline training. Additional immunizations are required for students entering 7th and 12th grades:
- All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations before the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age seven or older.
- To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
- As a parent/guardian, you may decide not to have your child receive the HPV vaccination. If that is the case, the school does not require documentation.
- All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) before the beginning of school.
- To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.
Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time.
Local immunization clinics and additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and from the Fairfax County Health Department.
🩹Vacunas Exigidas a Estudiantes que Entran a 7mo y 12vo Grados
