Hello White Oaks Community,
It is with immense joy and enthusiasm that I announce our new assistant principal, Melanie Jewell!
Ms. Jewell graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Speech Communication and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She earned her endorsement in school administration and leadership with the FCPS ACC program through the University of Virginia.
Ms. Jewell has over 25 years of combined experience in FCPS and recently served as the Acting Assistant Principal at Powell ES and Terra Centre ES. Prior to that, she was the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher at Terra Centre, and classroom teacher at Fairfax Villa ES and Woodley Hills ES.
Ms. Jewell served as a member of the FCPS Strategic Plan Committee, created and supported curriculum pacing guide materials for Elementary Social Studies, and was a Great Beginnings facilitator for experienced teachers new to FCPS.
Ms. Jewell is especially looking forward to becoming an integral part of our united leadership team, prioritizing building community through strong relationships and nurturing a positive school culture.
Outside of school, Ms. Jewell enjoys spending time with her husband, three sons, and their cat (Cooper). She loves reading, movies, and light gardening. She is a hometown Washington Nationals fan.
