I want to take a moment to share some heartfelt appreciation for Ms. Ashley Nelson, who will be leaving us at the end of this school year to pursue opportunities closer to home in Region 6 at Gunston Elementary School.

Ms. Nelson has brought so much to our community during her time here. Her inclusive approach to leadership has created space for every voice, every perspective, and every student. She has led with empathy, collaboration, and a deep belief in the power of connection. Her expertise in math and educational best practices has elevated conversations across our classrooms and departments. More than anything, Ms. Nelson leads with her heart. Her care for kids is genuine and constant. She sees their potential, supports their growth, and celebrates their wins. Her positive energy, warmth, optimism, and ability to lift people up have contributed to a positive culture at Justice. We will miss her deeply. She has left a meaningful mark on our school and our lives, and we are incredibly grateful for the time we’ve had with her. We wish you all the best!

I am very excited to introduce our new assistant principal, Mr. Patrick McElveen!

Mr. McElveen is joining us from Falls Church High School, where he has served as an instructional coach since 2022. He’s also worked as an instructional coach at both the elementary and secondary levels, a K-12 curriculum resource teacher, and a middle school math teacher. He lives in Herndon with his wife and two kids—a 7th grader and a 2nd grader—and is part of an FCPS family through and through. He brews part-time, loves playing all kinds of games, and never misses a Caps game—Let’s go CAPS!

Mr. McElveen is a strong instructional leader who has positively impacted students, staff, and school communities. I know he will do the same with us at Justice.
