A Message from our Administrators

Dear Hunt Valley Community,

As our summer begins, we would like to express how grateful we are to be leading such an amazing community of students, parents & staff. It has been an incredible year! We are so proud of our students here at Hunt Valley Elementary. Their accomplishments and achievements would not be possible without your support and dedication.

Reflecting on the past school year, we have had so many great memories and exciting events to remember fondly. We continued many successful traditions such as our book fairs, Multicultural Night, Trunk or Treat, Spelling Bee, Wellness Fair and many more heart felt memories. We also added new experiences, such as our Spring Festival, STEAM Night and Gratitude Walk which we hope to continue. Our students and community really enjoyed all these activities.

Our year ended with wonderful class parties filled with pride and celebration of student accomplishments as well as a fantastic Field Day for all grade levels. We are very proud of our students and their successes.

A special thanks to you, the parents who have contributed in ways small, large and unimaginable! Thank you for the partnership between home and school, which is so important. We appreciate all that you do each and every day for our school and our children!

Another celebration that we would like to share is that our PTA won the most Impactful PTA Shining Star Award from the Fairfax County Council PTA! We have enjoyed working with our PTA board, Mrs. Stoyanov, Mrs. Sherpa, Mrs. Dickey and Mrs. Mostafa. We appreciate all the hard work and dedication that you showed to our school and community this year!

Gratitude Walk

Walk of Gratitude

This morning, we had our first annual Walk of Gratitude to honor our students and families that will be leaving Hunt Valley to move on to their next duty station. The students and families walked the halls as a symbolic farewell, celebrating their achievements and the collective experience that have shaped them while at Hunt Valley. We are grateful for your service to our country and we wish you the best on next adventure!

Limited Early Release Wednesdays

Limited Early Release Days Continue Next Year

During a report to the School Board this month, FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid announced plans to continue limited early release days in elementary schools and shift them to Wednesdays for the 2025-26 school year. This plan is based on recommendations from the Early Release Steering Committee. The committee includes parents, caregivers, school-based staff, and central office personnel. Read more about the reasons for early release and the proposed early release dates

Lunch Balances

🥗 Don’t Forget to Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance! As the school year ends, it is important to remember to check your students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.

Families that earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2025-26 school year will be available this summer.

If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2024-25 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price meals.

Student Testing Results Coming Soon

Throughout June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, there is a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.

How the results are delivered depends on the test. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines

Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Individual test websites provide report translations and help for interpreting test results. Please contact us with any testing questions or for additional information about how we use test results to support student success.

Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.

Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. A SIS ParentVUE app is available for Apple and Android devices.

Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.

If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up-to-date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. Find more information and an FAQ online.
