Dear Terraset Families,
I can’t believe this is the last Principal’s Terragram message of the 2024-2025 school year. What a year it has been! We have had so many incredible learning experiences, including our new Language Arts curriculum. We celebrated our community together during events like the Basketball challenge, STEAM Night, and more! We even had seven staff members welcome new tiger cubs.
At last Friday’s Parent Coffee, we discussed the anticipated impacts of the FY2026 FCPS budget shortfall on Terraset. As mentioned in last week’s Terragram as well, we know that we can expect larger class sizes, reduced resources, and the likely elimination of our separate STEAM program. We discussed the importance of early advocacy to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors as well as the FCPS School Board, to fully fund the FCPS budget next year and beyond. We will share a resource with our representatives and contact information as soon as we can.
Please know that while we face uncertainty with the budget years ahead, as a community we will ensure that our children will continue to receive high-quality instruction and engaging opportunities no matter the budget landscape. We greatly appreciate your partnership and wish each of you a safe and fun summer full of adventures and learning.
Warmly,
Katie Aldridge, Principal
Dave Ickowski, Assistant Principal

📢Rising 7th grade- Panther Preview
Welcome to Team Langston Hughes Middle! We are excited to announce that Panther Preview will take place July 31, 2025 and August 5, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. However, students only need to attend one of the sessions. Panther Preview is a great way to start the journey of becoming a Langston Hughes Middle School Panther.
As we welcome students to the Langston Hughes family, students will participate in activities designed to acclimate them to the middle school, build confidence, motivate academic excellence, and form community. We hope to see you there! It’s a GREAT time to be a Panther! Should you have questions/concerns, contact our after-school specialist, Mr. Kyle Franklin at FMKyle1@fcps.edu.

With Panther Pride,

💊End of Year Medication Pick-Up
As we approach the end of the school year, the school health room would like to remind parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than student dismissal time on the last day of school. For safety reasons and per FCPS policy, medication cannot be sent home with students. Any medication remaining in the health room after 2:05pm on 6/11/25 will be destroyed. Medications are available for pick-up during school hours and by appointment.
If your child will be attending a Fairfax County Public Schools-sponsored summer program, the existing medication authorization form(s) can be used for the summer. However, it is still required that you pick up the medication from the school on the last day and drop it off to the summer program site.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our school health aide, Karen Rollason, at (703) 390-5610 or our school public health nurse, Katie Zinicola, 571-587-1585, kzinicola@fcps.edu. Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation. We wish you all a happy and healthy summer!
