It is hard to believe we are already bringing the 2024-2025 school year to a close. We have made so many happy memories, shared so many wonderful times, and learned so much together as a Parklawn family. As the summer approaches, we will take time to pause, reflect, and celebrate as we prepare for the 2025-2026 school year. We wish everyone a wonderful summer full of fun!
This will be the last “official” weekly Panther Press for the 2024-2025 school year. However, there will be summer editions of the Panther Press to share important updates. Stay tuned for information such as welcome back events and our Family Reunion in August!
Save the date! The first day of school for the 2025-2026 school year is Monday, August 18!

The last day of the 2024-25 school year is Wednesday, June 11, and students will be dismissed early. Parklawn’s dismissal time is 1:30.
Please see some important reminders below:
- Remind your child to return all school library books and FCPS laptops.
- Check your child’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any balances.
- Pick up any medications your child has been taking at school. A parent/guardian must pick them up in person.
- Bookmark the 2025-26 school year calendar to be ready for next year.

During the summer, there will be modified school office hours. Beginning June 16 – August 1, our school office will be open from 9 am -2 pm. Please see below for additional holidays:
June 19: School Office Closed – Juneteenth
July 4: School Office Closed – Independence Day Holiday
August 4: Office Hours return to 8 - 4:30 pm

FCPS’ Summer Meal Service Program provides breakfast and lunch free of charge to all children aged 18 and younger. Check FCPS’ Food and Nutrition Services webpage and the USDA Meals Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder in mid-June for specific dates, times, and locations. We are excited that Parklawn will be one of these locations from July 7-July 25!
Please note that no meals will be served on the June 19 and July 4 holidays. If you have any questions regarding the Summer 2025 meal service, please email SummerMeals@fcps.edu or call 703-813-4800.
FCPS’ Summer Resource Guide has activities and tips on a variety of subjects and interests from camps to health and safety resources.
Be sure to check back over the summer, as more resources may be added.
FCPS’ Summer Learning webpage offers ideas and strategies for families to keep students curious until August. Summer is the perfect time to help your student explore new interests, reinforce concepts, and stay engaged!
