Message from Mrs. Castillo

P for a Day

Last week was an incredible full week of school - the last for the 2024 - 2025 school year.  We had celebrations across all grade levels, culminating in the best field day yet!  Thank you to our staff and families for making these events happen.  Ms. Ulsh and I hosted our Principal & Assistant Principals for the Day who learned what it is really like to run an elementary school!

Marshall

A favorite end of year tradition is to be afforded the opportunity to attend Marshall High School's graduation.  This year was special as I was the Principal at Lemon Road for the 2025 graduates 6th grade year - this was a first!  It made catching these graduates before they crossed the stage quite nostalgic.

Finally catch the fun that field day offered our students and staff through many of the photos below.  We had great weather and a lot of smiles!

Grade 6 Promotion Plans

Parents/guardians of our 6th graders are invited to join us for a Promotion Ceremony in the Lemon Road gym beginning promptly at 8:45 AM on Tuesday.  Due to limited chair availability from FCPS, seating is limited to two guests per student.  Additional guests may be required to stand in the back.  We will also offer a siblings section on the floor with our 5th graders, please make arrangements with any kindergarten - grade 4 teachers if you would like a younger sibling to attend.  Parents/guardians may begin checking in at 8:05.  Swipe your photo ID and take a seat in the gym.  Parents/guardians that have visited Lemon Road during this school year may save time by registering in advance here.  There ceremony should conclude around 10:30 AM and all 6th graders and guests will be invited to the blacktop for photos.  Any parent wishing to take their child home after the ceremony should confirm with the classroom teacher before leaving.

LRES Family Engagement Events

Market

Lemon Road holds several events each year to engage parents and guardians with the learning happening in the classroom.  Each grade level creates meaningful engagement events.  Last week, our 1st graders held a market where they merged math, social studies, oral language, literacy, and creativity to sell products or services to peers and families.  Our 4th graders welcomed parents in for a POG Presentation of Learning where students reflected on their POG growth this year related to one or more attributes!

LRES Student Leadership

Leadership

Lemon Road intentionally creates opportunities for student leadership.  Students demonstrate leadership through our SCA (Student Council Association), Patrols, Eco-Defense Squad, News Team, Student Ambassadors, and more!  We celebrate our student leaders with an end of year picnic in the courtyard.  Thank you to our staff for offering these opportunities for our lions!
