As we head into this final weekend of the 2024-2025 school year, it's hard to believe that we now have just three more school days remaining for our students after this! The school year has flown by, and we're so proud of everything our students have accomplished. Today marked the beginning of our student technology return process, and we appreciate everyone's cooperation in getting laptops and chargers turned in. We'll be working diligently throughout the short time remaining next week to ensure all school technology is collected smoothly and efficiently.
We kindly ask families to help remind students to bring in any outstanding school-issued laptops and chargers next week. Prompt return ensures we can properly inventory and prepare all equipment for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your continued support in wrapping up the 2024-2025 academic year on a strong and organized note!

📍 Community Boundary Review Meeting
The final community meeting to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before summer break will take place Friday, June 6, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Glasgow Middle School.
Click on the date to register. The meeting will be hybrid (in-person and virtual). Child care for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed.
If you register to attend online, you will receive a Zoom link within 24 business hours. The email will come from “no-reply@zoom.us.” Check your spam folder if you do not receive the link.
At the meeting, an online tool will allow participants to submit feedback. Comments will be displayed in real time, and all collected input will be compiled, analyzed, and uploaded to our Comprehensive Boundary Review webpage.
📍 Reunion Comunitaria sobre Límites de Zonas Escolares

✅ End-of-Year Reminders
The last day of school is Wednesday, June 11! Please see some important reminders below:
- Remind your child to return all school library books and FCPS laptops.
- Check your child’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any balances.
- Pick up any medications your child has been taking at school. A parent/guardian must pick them up in person.
- Bookmark the 2025-26 school year calendar to be ready for next year.

 Summer is here and we will be feeling the heat for the next few months. On extremely hot days, these tips will help you stay cool and safe:
- Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Stay inside and out of the heat, if possible. Save the yard work for another day or time.
- Visit indoor locations during operating hours to stay cool.
- Know the symptoms of heat-related illness. Heat stroke is an emergency, so call or text 9-1-1.
- Never leave children, older adults or pets alone in a car.
- Fans create air flow but give a false sense of comfort since they do not lower body temperature. Stay hydrated and take other steps to get cool.
You can help protect vulnerable populations from extreme heat!
- Older adults are more prone to heat-related health problems. If you are an older adult or a caregiver to an older adult, ensure that you stay informed for health and safety updates and seeking medical care when needed.
- Infants and children should be dressed in loose, lightweight clothing and should never be left in a parked car even if the windows are open.
- School-based outdoor activities during extreme heat conditions for athletic teams and events are monitored closely. County departments that host summer camps also monitor conditions.
- Individuals who are on prescription medications may have difficulty communicating what they are experiencing, or their medications may make the effect of extreme heat more pronounced.
- People with chronic medical conditions may struggle to cope or recover quickly from extreme heat.
- People who work outdoors are more likely to become dehydrated and get heat-related illnesses. Encourage outdoor co-workers to drink plenty of water, ask if tasks can be scheduled earlier or later to avoid extreme heat and take frequent breaks to cool down and hydrate. Workers and supervisors should be able to recognize symptoms of heat stress.
🍽️ Summer Meals for Students: Details Coming Soon
FCPS’ Summer Meal Service Program provides breakfast and lunch free of charge to all children aged 18 and younger. Check FCPS’ Food and Nutrition Services webpage and the USDA Meals Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder in mid-June for specific dates, times, and locations.
Please note that no meals will be served on the June 19 and July 4 holidays. If you have any questions regarding the Summer 2025 meal service, please contact us at SummerMeals@fcps.edu or at 703-813-4800.

💚 Free Virtual Mental Health Consultations for Parents and Secondary Students
This summer, the FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will offer free virtual Mental Wellness Consultations from June 23 through August 1. Any FCPS parent, or middle or high school student, will have an opportunity to schedule a 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker by phone or videoconference. 🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 7th and 12th Graders
Additional immunizations are required for students entering 7th and 12th grades:
- All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations before the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age seven or older.
- To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
- As a parent/guardian, you may decide not to have your child receive the HPV vaccination. If that is the case, the school does not require documentation.
- All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) before the beginning of school.
- To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.
Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time.

Vacunas Exigidas a Estudiantes que Entran a 7mo y 12vo Grados

SAT School Day and PSAT/NMSQT 2025
SAT School Day and PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) exams will be held at each high school, including ours, on Wednesday, October 8, at no cost to families. The digital SAT School Day exam is offered to 12th grade students, and the digital PSAT/NMSQT exam is provided to 10th and 11th grade students.
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities and Multilingual Learner SupportsBecause these exams are operated by the College Board, students do not automatically receive testing accommodations or multilingual learner (ML) supports. If you have a student with disabilities entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, please review the accommodations request process and return forms to our school by Monday, August 4, to request new or updated College Board testing accommodations.
If you have a multilingual learner (ML) entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, please review the ML support request process and return forms by Thursday, August 28, if you wish to request ML supports for the October 2025 PSAT/NMSQT or SAT School Day.
