Dear Deer Park Families,
As the school year wraps up, I want to wish everyone a wonderful and well-deserved summer break! It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming everyone back, and now it's time for a much-needed break! I hope this summer brings each of you plenty of opportunities for rest, fun, and quality time with loved ones. Whether you're heading to the beach, exploring local parks, or simply enjoying your backyard, make the most of every moment. This is a special time to relax, recharge, and make lasting memories with family and friends.
To our amazing 6th graders, we're so proud of all you've accomplished. We'll truly miss seeing your faces in our hallways, but we're excited for you as you embark on a new adventure in middle school. You’ve grown so much during your time here, and we’ll certainly miss your energy and enthusiasm. We know you'll do great things! Go out there and shine!
For everyone else, we can't wait to see you back in mid-August, refreshed and ready for new discoveries and adventures that come with a new school year. Until then, stay safe and enjoy every summer moment.

🌞 Summer Resources Help Students Stay Curious, Healthy, and Busy
FCPS’ Summer Resource Guide has activities and tips on a variety of subjects and interests from camps to health and safety resources.
🌻 Learning Doesn’t Take a Vacation — and Neither Does Fun!
FCPS’ Summer Learning webpage offers ideas and strategies for families to keep students curious until August. Summer is the perfect time to help your student explore new interests, reinforce concepts, and stay engaged!
🍽️ Summer Meals for Students
FCPS’ Summer Meal Service Program provides breakfast and lunch free of charge to all children aged 18 and younger. Check FCPS’ Food and Nutrition Services webpage and the USDA Meals Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder in mid-June for specific dates, times, and locations.
Please note that no meals will be served on the June 19 and July 4 holidays. If you have any questions regarding the Summer 2025 meal service, please contact us at SummerMeals@fcps.edu or at 703-813-4800.

As we close out another amazing school year—and celebrate the special milestone of Deer Park’s 30th Anniversary with our fun throwback '90s theme—the PTA would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every one of you who helped make this year a true success.
To our dedicated PTA Board members, hardworking staff, and supportive parents and families, thank you for your time, effort, and generosity throughout the year. Your commitment has helped us support vital classroom and teaching resources, enhance student activities, host incredible family and community events, and assist our amazing staff and administration.
A very special shout out goes to our incredible Vice President, Kelly—our beloved Fairy Godmother of the PTA. Kelly’s energy, kindness, and dedication have left a lasting mark on our community. While we’re sad to see her move on to new adventures in Ireland, we are beyond grateful for the years she’s spent making Deer Park a better place. You will be deeply missed, Kelly, and we wish you all the happiness and success in this exciting new chapter!
the past two years. She has been a rock for our organization—keeping our accounts in order, bills paid, and ensuring transparency in every financial detail. Her dedication behind the scenes has been essential to our success. While we’ll miss her presence on the Executive Board, we’re hopeful she’ll continue to support us in new ways next year!
We would also like to thank our generous community sponsors who made a huge difference this year: Mt. Kim Martial Arts, Victory Martial Arts, BOWA, L&V Cleaning Services, Jessica Fauteux,and Card My Yard - Centreville. Your partnership means the world to us, and we’re excited to continue working together next school year.
Looking ahead, we are still actively pursuing our goal of installing a sun shade out by the playground to provide much-needed relief for our students during outdoor play. We’ve recently received a quote and will be working through the summer to bring this project to life. As part of this effort, the PTA will be offering custom bricks available for purchase by families and community partners—these will be laid beneath the sun shade as a lasting tribute to the incredible support of our Deer Park family.
Next year, we’re thrilled to welcome two new members to the Executive Board, and we’ve already begun planning for another fantastic year. We encourage all families to consider getting involved—we can’t do it without you!
Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and adventure-filled summer break! We’ll see you back in August, ready for another exciting year! Be sure to follow us on social media over the summer for updates, announcements, and sneak peeks at what’s to come!
