Principal's Message

Dear Franklin Sherman ES Parents/Guardians,

What an absolutely incredible week we've had! Last week was truly overflowing with joy and community spirit. Our Band & Strings Concert was simply magical, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of our young musicians. We also had an unforgettable Field Day, filled with laughter, sunshine, and joyful camaraderie. And who could forget the delightful class parties? It's clear that our Panda Pride is not just loud, but bursting with warmth and happiness!

Last week you should have recieved our First Franklin Sherman Annual Report in your child's backpack. We have so much to celebrate this year and wanted to make sure to communicate this home with our amazing community!

As we look ahead, I'm absolutely thrilled about tomorrow! With the wonderful help of our dedicated parent volunteers, we're ready to create a truly special 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony. It's a privilege to celebrate this milestone with our amazing students.

Please do make sure you've RSVP'd if you haven't already, as seating will be a bit cozy this year. I can't wait to share this heartwarming occasion tomorrow with all our beloved staff and family members.

Sincerely,

Farris Thomas
Principal

Dear 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Families,

We are excited to offer all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students the opportunity to join the Strings Program next school year!

Why joins strings, Parent interviews: https://www.youtubeeducation.com/watch?v=1cOOnABIP54

🎶 About the Program All students in 4th - 6th grade are eligible to take weekly strings lessons during the school day—one hour per week. This is a great way to introduce your child to playing a musical instrument and experiencing the joy of making music together!

🎻 Instruments Offered (Strings Family):

  • Violin – Smallest and highest sounding
  • Viola – Slightly larger, deeper tone
  • Cello – Played sitting down, warm low sounds
  • Bass – Largest instrument, plays deep foundation tones

🎺 Note: Band instruments (flute, clarinet, trumpet, etc.) will begin in 5th grade, so 4th Grade is a wonderful opportunity for your child to start their musical journey early with strings.

📝 Next Step – Fill Out the Intention Form Please fill out the Strings Intention Form so we can plan for your child’s participation:

Dietary Accommodations for Students

In recognition of National Food Allergy Awareness Month, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) wants to emphasize that it has implemented a standardized process for dietary accommodations. This ensures that FCPS students receive safe and healthy food.

The Dietary Accommodations information provides step-by-step guidance for families to follow to ensure safe and appropriate food is provided to their student(s). This guidance includes needing a Medical Dietary Accommodation Form to be signed by a Licensed Health Care Provider and forwarded to FNS.

For students who need a milk substitute, the Milk Substitution Form signed by a Parent/Guardian must also be on file with FNS.

Forms are to be emailed to dietary.forms.fns@fcps.edu by parents/guardians. FNS Registered Dietitians on staff will then contact the family to begin planning safe meals for their student and place an alert on the student’s file at the register.
