As we close out on the 2024 - 2025 school year and look ahead to the 2025 - 2026 school year, we reflect on our work. This is our final Saratoga Connect of the 2024 - 2025 school year and is filled with highlights from our incredible year of growth and learning and introduces our new family liaison.
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable summer! We look forward to seeing you at Principals on the Playground this summer and hearing about your adventures. Thank you for partnering with us and for your trust to support the growth and development of each child.

Saratoga Family Liaison
Welcome Loris Sarabamoun! Ms. Sarabamoun is thrilled to be joining Saratoga Elementary as our new Family Liaison. She looks forward to getting to know each of you and supporting our students' success through strong family partnerships. Outside of work, she loves taking long walks, trying new recipes and spending quality time with her two boys. She is excited to work together to continue fostering a welcoming and connected school community!
Language Arts
In Language Arts, we successfully implemented the Benchmark Advance curriculum in accordance with the Virginia Literacy Act, with our dedicated teachers engaging in extensive professional learning aligned with the science of reading and Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction. Each Language Arts block was thoughtfully structured to include whole group reading instruction, targeted small group reading, writing instruction, and opportunities for both intervention and enrichment. This focused work directly supports the FCPS Strategic Goal of ensuring all students are reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
Math
Our Math instruction this year emphasized utilizing best practices, with a significant focus on encouraging students to articulate their problem-solving processes to deepen their mathematical understanding. Teachers created environments where students felt empowered to discuss their thinking and learn from one another. This approach is instrumental in supporting the FCPS Strategic goal of all students accessing Algebra by 8th grade.
Social Emotional Learning
In Social Emotional Learning (SEL), we proudly implemented the Second Step program school-wide. This comprehensive program nurtured the five core SEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness through four engaging units: Growth Mindset & Goal Setting, Emotion Management, Empathy & Kindness, and Problem Solving. Our students have developed crucial skills to navigate their emotions and build positive relationships.
Multilingual Learners
Our Multilingual Learners have made tremendous strides this year, benefiting from targeted additional instruction both within and outside their regular classrooms to bolster their English Language Proficiency. We've celebrated significant growth in their speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills in English. This success demonstrates the dedication of all Saratoga staff in providing instruction that supports all learners, through the use of effective strategies such as sentence stems.
Inclusion Pilot Program
Saratoga is honored to be one of six elementary schools participating in the Inclusion Pilot Program. Our dedicated Inclusion team conducted walk-throughs in every classroom to identify ways to enhance consistency in our classroom environments and structures. As a result, our multi-year goal is to increase collaborative learning opportunities, and we are proud that for our year 1 goal, 100% of our classrooms now have structures and environments reflective of Tier 1 Behavior practices.
Celebrating Students and Building Community
Celebrating Student Success and Building Community has been a cornerstone of our year. We've held vibrant quarterly assemblies where students, nominated by staff members, were recognized for demonstrating the Portrait of a Graduate attributes: communicator, collaborator, ethical & global citizen, creative & critical thinker, and goal-directed & resilient individual. These celebrations have fostered a positive and supportive school culture.

Enlace Familiar de Saratoga
¡Bienvenida, Loris Sarabamoun! La Sra. Sarabamoun está encantada de unirse a la Escuela Primaria Saratoga como nuestra nueva Enlace Familiar. Espera conocerlos a todos y apoyar el éxito de nuestros estudiantes mediante una sólida colaboración familiar. Fuera del trabajo, le encanta dar largos paseos, probar nuevas recetas y pasar tiempo de calidad con sus dos hijos. ¡Está emocionada de trabajar juntos para seguir fomentando una comunidad escolar acogedora y conectada!
Lengua y Literatura
En Lengua y Literatura, implementamos con éxito el currículo Benchmark Advance de acuerdo con la Ley de Alfabetización de Virginia. Nuestros dedicados maestros participaron en un amplio aprendizaje profesional alineado con la ciencia de la lectura y la Instrucción de Alfabetización Basada en la Evidencia. Cada bloque de Lengua y Literatura se estructuró cuidadosamente para incluir instrucción de lectura en grupo completo, lectura dirigida en grupos pequeños, instrucción de escritura y oportunidades tanto de intervención como de enriquecimiento. Este trabajo enfocado apoya directamente el Objetivo Estratégico de FCPS de garantizar que todos los estudiantes lean a nivel de grado al finalizar el tercer grado. Matemáticas
Este año, nuestra enseñanza de matemáticas se centró en la aplicación de las mejores prácticas, con un enfoque especial en animar a los estudiantes a articular sus procesos de resolución de problemas para profundizar su comprensión matemática. Los docentes crearon entornos donde los estudiantes se sintieron empoderados para compartir sus ideas y aprender unos de otros. Este enfoque es fundamental para apoyar la meta estratégica de FCPS de que todos los estudiantes tengan acceso a Álgebra para octavo grado.
Aprendizaje Socioemocional
En Aprendizaje Socioemocional (ASE), implementamos con orgullo el programa Segundo Paso en toda la escuela. Este programa integral cultivó las cinco competencias fundamentales del ASE: autoconciencia, autogestión, toma de decisiones responsable, habilidades relacionales y conciencia social a través de cuatro atractivas unidades: Mentalidad de Crecimiento y Establecimiento de Metas, Manejo de Emociones, Empatía y Amabilidad, y Resolución de Problemas. Nuestros estudiantes han desarrollado habilidades cruciales para gestionar sus emociones y construir relaciones positivas.
Estudiantes Multilingües
Nuestros estudiantes multilingües han logrado avances extraordinarios este año, beneficiándose de instrucción adicional específica, tanto dentro como fuera de sus aulas regulares, para reforzar su dominio del inglés. Hemos celebrado un crecimiento significativo en sus habilidades de habla, lectura, comprensión auditiva y escritura en inglés. Este éxito demuestra la dedicación de todo el personal de Saratoga para brindar una instrucción que apoya a todos los estudiantes, mediante el uso de estrategias efectivas como la construcción de estructuras de oraciones.
Programa Piloto de Inclusión
Saratoga se enorgullece de ser una de las seis escuelas primarias que participan en el Programa Piloto de Inclusión. Nuestro dedicado equipo de Inclusión realizó recorridos por cada aula para identificar maneras de mejorar la coherencia en los entornos y estructuras de nuestras aulas. Como resultado, nuestro objetivo plurianual es aumentar las oportunidades de aprendizaje colaborativo, y nos enorgullece que, para nuestro objetivo del primer año, el 100 % de nuestras aulas ahora cuenten con estructuras y entornos que reflejen las prácticas de Comportamiento de Nivel 1.
Celebrando a los Estudiantes y Construyendo Comunidad
Celebrar el Éxito Estudiantil y Construir Comunidad ha sido un pilar fundamental de nuestro año. Hemos realizado vibrantes asambleas trimestrales donde los estudiantes, nominados por el personal, fueron reconocidos por demostrar los atributos del Retrato de un Graduado: comunicador, colaborador, ciudadano ético y global, pensador creativo y crítico, e individuo orientado a objetivos y resiliente. Estas celebraciones han fomentado una cultura escolar positiva y solidaria.
