A Note From Mrs. Duffy

Dear Bush Hill Families,

As we approach the end of the 2024-2025 school year, I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to our entire school community. This year has been filled with incredible learning, growth, and memorable experiences for our students.

I am immensely thankful to our dedicated and hardworking staff. Their commitment to providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment has been instrumental in the success of our students. They have gone above and beyond to ensure a fantastic year of growth and achievement.

I am also incredibly proud of our students. They have impressed us all with their curiosity, resilience, and all that they have learned this year. It has been a joy to watch them flourish both academically and personally.

We are already looking forward to the next school year. Please mark your calendars: the first day of school for the 2025-2026 school year will be Monday, August 18, 2025. Over the summer, we will be sending out important communications via email with information regarding key dates and everything you need to know for a smooth start to the new school year.

To keep your child engaged in learning over the summer break, we encourage you to explore the wonderful resources available on the Fairfax County Public Schools website. You will find a variety of ideas and activities to support your child's continued learning at https://www.fcps.edu/summer-learning-resources.

Thank you again for your partnership in your child's education. We wish you all a safe, relaxing, and fantastic summer vacation!

Sincerely,

Mary E. Duffy

Principal

🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 7th and 12th Graders

There are several immunizations required for students entering 7th and 12th grades.

  • All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations before the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
    • To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age seven or older.
    • To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
    • As a parent/guardian, you may decide not to have your child receive the HPV vaccination. If that is the case, the school does not require documentation.
  • All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) before the beginning of school.
    • To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.

Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time. Local immunization clinics and additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and from the Fairfax County Health Department.
