Last Day of School (Early Dismissal)
The last day of the school year is Wednesday, June 11, and students will be dismissed 2 hours early at 11:45.
📞 FCPS Ombuds Office Provides Confidential Guidance
The Office of the Ombuds engages with families, students, and staff to offer resources and improve the experience of each and every member of the FCPS community. They work as an independent confidential resource to help answer questions, offer options to resolve concerns, and hear complaints regarding FCPS matters. School Board Unanimously Adopts the FCPS 2025-26 Budget
The Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the FCPS Fiscal Year 2025-26 Approved Budget. Facing years of chronic underfunding, the final budget required $121 million in reductions to the needs-based budget that was carefully developed with the FCPS community’s high expectations in mind. While these cuts and reductions will impact our classes, the school division will continue to do what is necessary to provide a world-class education for every student. Special Education Parent Involvement Survey for the 2024-2025 School Year
All parents of school-aged children and youth with disabilities who receive special education services in Virginia are requested to complete the VDOE annual Special Education Parent Involvement Survey.
This survey will remain open through December 12, 2025. Please complete one survey for each of your children currently receiving special education services during the 2024-2025 school year.

Live, Virtual Training on Critical Decision Points for Families of Children with Disabilities
Join us for a live, virtual training event, Critical Decision Points for Families of Children with Disabilities. The purpose of this training is to assist you in understanding the following:
- What are some of the keys to your child's academic success?
- What decisions will you have to make regarding your child's educational path?
- At what point will you be making these decisions? In this training, we refer to these as critical decision points.
- What information will you need so that you can make the most well-informed decisions for your child?
Part One will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. Part Two will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. This is a two-part training. You will need to attend both sessions to receive all the information. There is no cost to attend this training.
CDP Registration will be limited to 100 participants, on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to people who have not attended previously. This training will be provided by VDOE staff members. Additional details regarding this training will be provided upon registration.

🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 7th and 12th Graders
Additional immunizations are required for students entering 7th and 12th grades.
- All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 7 or older.
- To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
- As a parent/guardian, you may decide that your child not receive the HPV vaccination. The school does not require documentation if a parent/guardian elects for their student not to receive the HPV vaccination.
- All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) prior to the beginning of school.
- To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.
Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and healthcare providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time. Additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and the Fairfax County Health Department.
Extended School Year (ESY) Dates
The dates for the 2025 sessions of Extended School Year services have been confirmed. Students will attend from June 30 to July 25 with July 3 & 4th being holidays. Students will be attending from 7:4510:45 each day.
June
June11: Last day of School- 2 hour early dismissal
June 30: First day of ESY
July
July 3-4: ESY Holiday - No School
July 25: Last Day of ESY

We have a vision to create a vibrant outdoor learning space for all students to access at Kilmer Center School. This learning space will be constructed directly beside our school building with a designated walkway directly leading to the learning space.
