A Message from Principal Goldstein

Sam Goldstein

Dear Fairview Families,

It’s hard to believe the school year is already coming to a close! This week has been full of celebrations as we honored our amazing 6th graders and enjoyed classroom parties recognizing the hard work and growth of all our students.

As we wrap up the year, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteers, dedicated staff, and supportive Fairview families who helped make the end-of-year events so meaningful and memorable for our Falcons.

A quick reminder: the last day of school is Wednesday, June 11, and students will be dismissed at 1:55 PM.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Samantha Goldstein

Update on FCPS Boundary Review

In July 2024, the Fairfax County School Board voted to begin a review and update of the county’s school boundary policy. As part of this initiative, the Board established the Superintendent's Boundary Advisory Committee, which includes parents, caregivers, and community members from each of FCPS’ 24 high school pyramids. The committee also includes school-based and division administrators, teachers, operational staff, and other community representatives.

The committee has been actively meeting throughout 2024 and 2025 to explore ways to better align school boundaries with changing geographic and demographic needs.

Representing the Robinson Pyramid on the committee is Sunnie Salvia, a Fairview and Robinson parent with 4 children: 5th grade, 7th grade, and 10th grade.

At its most recent meeting, the committee discussed the topic of “split-feeder” elementary schools—schools that feed into more than one middle school. While Fairview is not a split-feeder school, there are current discussions regarding adjusting the Union Mill Elementary boundary that could potentially impact Fairview families.

We encourage you to visit the FCPS website to review the meeting agenda, presentation slides, and related materials - paying particular attention to the slide with proposed changes for Fairview (specifically related to the Martin’s Landing and Powell's Landing neighborhoods-slide18).

If you have feedback on the proposed changes affecting Fairview, please reach out to Sunnie at fcpsboundary.robinson.2@gmail.com with your comments or concerns.

Please Note: Any proposals discussed by the Advisory Committee are not final and have not been approved or rejected by the School Board. The Advisory Committee’s work will continue through January 2026, so it is unlikely that any changes impacting Fairview  will take effect in the upcoming school year.

Attendance Reminders!

🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 7th Graders

Additional immunizations are required for students entering 7th grade:

  • All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations before the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
    • To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age seven or older.
    • To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
    • As a parent/guardian, you may decide not to have your child receive the HPV vaccination. If that is the case, the school does not require documentation.

Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time.

Local immunization clinics and additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and from the Fairfax County Health Department

Language Arts Summer Learning: Magazines, Weekly Plans, Activities, and More

We will be sending students home with two Benchmark magazines to help them practice their reading and writing skills during the summer. You will also receive a letter from our school with weekly learning plans and activities.

Find more ways to support your child's literacy skills on FCPS’ Summer Learning Resources webpage. All of these activities are optional, but we encourage families to help their students practice reading and writing during summer break, so that they can start strong next school year.
