Weekly update for June 6, 2025
Dear CES friends and families,
It has been a very exciting last full week of school. One of the recognitions that took place this week was when we were proud to celebrate Patient First for being recognized as a VSBA (Virginia School Board Associations) Honor Roll selected business partner. This Columbia ES business partner is 1 of only 3 businesses highlighted for this recognizition across the entire Fairfax County Schools division. Patient First specifically partnered closely with the CES PTA to support field trips, STEAM night events, and much more. We are thrilled to have joined in this recognition and look forward to seeing the partnership grow!
On Monday morning of next week, we look forward to celebrating our Kindergarteners at their promotion ceremony at 10:30am. On Tuesday, our 5th Graders will be promoted during the annual promotion ceremony beginning at 9:30am.
Finally, as a reminder, we will have a 2-hour early release on Wednesday of next week, the last day of school. Dismissal will begin at 2:05pm.

The Columbia Elementary School community is simply the best! Thank you to all who supported activities this year such as Bingoween, teacher and staff appreciation events, Read-a-Thon, and finally Field Day. We could not have done any of these events without you! Have a wonderful, fun-filled, and restful summer!
Final PTA Meeting – Please participate, we need a quorum!
Mark your calendar and please join us for our final PTA meeting on June 10th at 7:00 PM! The call will be VIRTUAL ONLY and we will hold elections for three board positions and review the 2025-2026 proposed PTA budget.

📍 Community Boundary Review Meeting
The final community meeting to review and reflect on the initial draft scenarios before summer break will take place Friday, June 6, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Glasgow Middle School.
Click on the date to register. The meeting will be hybrid (in-person and virtual). Child care for in-person participants and language interpretation/translation for all participants will be available as needed.
If you register to attend online, you will receive a Zoom link within 24 business hours. The email will come from “no-reply@zoom.us.” Check your spam folder if you do not receive the link.
At the meeting, an online tool will allow participants to submit feedback. Comments will be displayed in real time, and all collected input will be compiled, analyzed, and uploaded to our Comprehensive Boundary Review webpage.
📍 Reunion Comunitaria sobre Límites de Zonas Escolares
La última reunión para revisar y discutir los escenarios iniciales sugeridos antes de las vacaciones de verano, tendrá lugar el viernes 6 de junio entre las 6:30 y las 8:00 p.m., en Glasgow Middle School.

Spring Book Fair
Thank you to all of the families who supported the CES Spring Book Fair! The proceeds from the Book Fair go toward special activities and visits in the library. Thank you as well to all of the parent volunteers, the Book Fair could not happen without your support.
If your child was not able to find a book they hoped for, please check our online book store at https://www.bookwormcentral.com/school-online-store.php?school_code=columbia The online bookstore is open all year.
✅ End-of-Year Reminders
The last day of school is Wednesday, June 11! Please see some important reminders below:
- Remind your child to return all school library books and FCPS laptops.
- Check your child’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any balances.
- Pick up any medications your child has been taking at school. A parent/guardian must pick them up in person.
- Bookmark the 2025-26 school year calendar to be ready for next year.
